Best Western San Marcos Inn

We have stayed at this property multiple times through out the years. The rooms are always nice and clean. We had my niece's service dog this time and he may have barked four times at the most in the early afternoon on Sunday at someone knocking on the door and once on Sunday at 7:40 a.m. and we were kicked out of the hotel. On Saturday we received a call from the clerk at the front desk that said NO DOGS WERE ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY! I explained we had a service dog, the clerk responded we needed to go to front desk immediately and fill out paperwork, I told her we filled out paperwork at check in time. I was told to hold and she came back on and said she had what she needed. The clerk said we needed to keep dog quiet I r we would be evicted. On Sunday morning right after the dog barked, the front desk called immediately and evicted us. We got the dog off the hotel premises immediately and my sister and niece and nephew starting packing everything up and I was still in bed and I am handicapped. I got up and packed my stuff and went to the bathroom was sponging off and getting dressed because I was unable to shower as I was trying to vacate the room. I had the bathroom door open and was talking with my 11 year old nephew and the front desk gentleman came and told my nephew that it had been an hour and he was still getting complaints about the dog and nothing was happening with us leaving. I was on the toilet and said to the clerk that it was impossible to be getting complaints about the dog because he was removed immediately when he called and that we had removed all luggage except for the bag on my walker with my clothes for the day and my toilet seat riser. He came into the room and was saying something about us leaving and I was sitting on the toilet in my bra and underwear - he did apologize for coming in on me and I responded I am very slow but will be out as quickly as I could! I am a General Manager of a Best Western property and I think the situation could have been handled a lot better! For one thing my desk clerks better check information before calling and stating no dogs allowed and the gentleman should have never entered to the bathroom area. Both clerks were rude! We were charged $100.00 for disturbing other guests and we understand that but as a manager, there was the right way of doing this without being rude! Best Western prides their hotels to follow guidelines from Because We Care! None were followed from either clerk. My sister went and checked out when I made it to the car and was told that we may be on the do not rent list! After arriving back to our homes I discovered I left my medical glove for my left hand for swelling and my sister left her I Phone charger. Upon calling the hotel on Monday the day after, we called 3 times and no one answered, finally got a hold of someone and they said nothing was found! Terrible experience!

The location to Main Street was perfect but the facilities were just okay. The rooms DO NOT have air conditioning at all! Stuffy and uncomfortable. The bathroom was very small and the shower door seal was not actually attached! Lol. Hot tub was nice except it closes at 8:30 so no hot tub after you get back to the motel from dinner.

You have to sign out hot tub towels so if they go missing you get charged!

Don't waste your money on this place, 50%too high for the OLD hotel With rattling elevator, no ac and too expensive.

Breakfast could be better and there’s no laundry facility.

This place is a gem, we love the spa, the price is good & it's a block from the ocean. Definitely can walk to plenty of food places. Oneof our favorite stays.
