Millennium Hotel Glasgow

Room overlooked George Square although building work is ongoing it was very quiet. Room and bathroom were very spacious with excellent facilities.

More up to date decor but this wasn't a problem and the room was excellent.

The location could be very good - but not under the current situation. Staff were mostly exceptionally helpful. They take evacuation measures and information very seriously - I appreciate that.

Most hotels where I have stayed make the beds during room cleaning - even if not replacing the sheets, etc (I had this during my recent stay in two other UK hotels). This was never done during a stay of 7 days. No body lotion provided. No complimentary water - not even on the day of arrival. Instant coffee. The Bistro is only serving breakfast. Although including photos of the Bistro on the website, it is not open apart from breakfast. The latter is indicate in small print - but then why the photos of the Bistro? Our default Glasgow hotel for 30+ years and a venue with many happy memories. This time we payed the extra for the view of George Square which is normally more interesting than TV. Who would have guessed that George Square is a construction site just now - being refurbished and fenced off. So much for luck and we take that on the chin. The room was unremarkable and might generously be described as "tired" - furniture scraped and scuffed by use. The duvets appeared skimpy and indeed I woke in the early hours feeling unpleasantly cold. A heater that had been set to 20 deg at midnight was stone cold by 4a.m. Blankets were supplied later and maintenance set the temp at 30 deg. Hot water took an age to find our taps. Being cold in bed the main reason for low rating. Ironically a working fridge was a plus. The Hotel may suffer here because we have had such excellent rooms and service in the past and by contrast this was a let-down. For balance three other Scottish hotels both budget and premium performed better on this trip.

The location was convenient for shopping and Bus and Train Station.

Staff were so helpful. Room was brilliant, with a fabulous bath/hot water supply. Bed was very comfortable. Great location for shopping/transport links.
