OYO Hotel DeRidder Hwy 171 North

Booked this property based on having stayed at another OYO in New Mexico which was average to a bit above average. Due to airline delays we did not arrive in Shreveport, LA. until nearly midnight. We were able to get a rental car as some very courteous folks at Hertz who stayed beyond closing time to help us out. Arrived at OYO in DeRidder approx 2:20 a.m. Rang the bell for the night clerk. While waiting I looked around and surveyed the entrance. There appeared to be mold around the window for night arrivals as well as mold up along the outside walls and on the ceiling of the drive thru. Got to the room and did not like what we were greeted with. Dirty counters, poorly made beds, insufficient towels and wash cloths, and worst of all a very dirty bathtub. Too tired to deal with it at that time in the morning. Later in the morning we requested sufficient towels then put one in the filthy tub to stand on. Went to discount store and purchased disinfectant spray, wipes and deodorizer (had requested non-smoking) but first thing we smelled when entering the room was smoke. Only 5-10 vehicles in the parking lot so not overly crowded (sarcasm ). We cleaned everything that maids should have cleaned and requested the office not to send maids to our room for the entire 4 day stay. I guarantee the room was much cleaner when we left than when we checked in! Last time to stay at an OYO property for us.

Rooms were dirty, only 2 non-smoking rooms available of 3 rooms reserved, poop on the wall, no toilet paper, dirty towels. Would never recommend, and my standards are low.

ONLY REASON IT HAS ONE STAR IS BECAUSE I HAD TO SELECT AT LEAST ONE...The front desk employees our dishonest and untrustworthy!!! We recently called and booked two rooms (8/24/23) due to wild fires and mandatory evacuation in our area. When we arrived it was almost completely booked with fellow evacuees so we only had a choice of smoking rooms. None of us smoke but I was not going to be picky but grateful that we had somewhere to go & be safe. We checked in then went to evaluate our rooms 159 & 171 when me and my children were getting out of the vehicle there was some creepy man watching every move we made which made me feel uncomfortable but we proceeded to go evaluate the rooms. Rm 159 was ok so we proceeded to go evaluate room 171 when we opened the door the smell of something rotten was overwhelming and not to mention the bed wasn't even made and sheets were still rolled up sitting on the foot of the bed. We walked out to go inform the front desk of the smell and condition of the room and in doing so I look over at our other room to see that man that was watching us was trying to enter our other room(159) and when he noticed that we seen him he stopped and walked away very fast. So at this point I made the decision that this is not a suitable or safe place for me and my children. I told the kids to get in the car and we promptly went to the front desk to inform them of everything. There was a Dark haired man and woman working that night. They both apologized for everything and then the man went and checked out both rooms before we left. Then they said they will cancel my reservation & I will receive my refund through PayPal, since I had paid for the room online though paypal. They said they couldn't give a receipt or Cash back, so with that being said I took their word. Well days went by and still no refund so I had to start a dispute with PayPal... Now the hotel is continuing to refuse my refund claiming we stayed in the rooms. They know good and well we DID NOT STAY all we did was evaluate each room. We never even removed any of our belongings out of the vehicle. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE, NOT ONLY OUR THE EMPLOYEES DISHONEST & UNTRUSTWORTHY BUT ARE WILLING TO TAKE FROM PEOPLE IN A TIME OF NEED. THE ROOMS OUR VERY LOW GRADE AND UNSANITARY.

The bed was comfortable.

There were roaches. The bathroom was dirty. The towels looked dirty as well. They should be white but they were not. The air was not fresh. Woke up with a sore throat. The front desk worker was not attentive to my concerns. My food was ruined in the refrigerator because it defrosted and water soaked up everything I bought.

Property is dirty in and outside. There was cleaner in the bathroom that was just thrown in there not even scrubbed or rinsed down. Roaches in the room. Stains on every wall that were disgusting. Base boards were filthy and stained. I didn’t want any of my bags on the floor due to bugs. The sheets were stained and the chair in the room was stained so bad. Toilet paper was terrible one ply. The hotel didn’t have enough clean towels I had to wait for them to wash my own and then return them. Just not good overall

The staff seemed friendly and accommodating

First off let's start by saying I splurged an extra 7 dollars for the premium room that was offered on booking com just to be told at the front desk that they don't have premium rooms, all the rooms are the same and they don't know why booking.com says they do when they dont. The room was filthy the bathroom had water all over the floor, there was a bad odor in the room, there was insect feces in the drawers. And the riff raff that was allowed to stay there were hanging outside of their room and were shouting derogatory comments toward me, I felt unsafe and left immediately I was there a total of five minutes and left.
