Grand Hotel Gardone Riviera

This hotel is truly grand and very old. I understand it has been purchased and will be renovated. It is gorgeous and right on the lake, with lake access, jacuzzi and pool. The food is excellent.

Living the dream with a lake view balcony room at the grand Gardone Riviera Hotel. Everything I always wanted. Being able to also slip into the lake for a swim straight from the sunloungers also a bonus! Breakfast was amazing, we couldn’t stop eating! Loved the whole experience and will definitely visit again!

The property is in a good location. The view from the room was probably the best thing about the property. The room was very nice and spacious. Only draw back is there is no coffee maker or any hot drink amenity in the room. The accommodation came with breakfast but as a solo traveler and a packed itinerary I never had time to try any of the breakfast as I was out before breakfast time which ran from 7-10am. This is why I requested a hot kettle for my room so I could make my own coffee but the staff did not accommodate saying that they were out of kettles as they already provided other rooms with them. So a little disappointing. Also there was a leak in the shower so everyday I had to clean the bathroom floor as it would get flooded with water. I pointed this out to the staff and even showed a video of the the issue. He only apologized and did nothing else.

The hotel is very dated, but I was told they are going to have a major renovation project starting next year and going on for about 4 years. The location is lovely, front lake with a cozy pool and whirlpool. Just the interiors feels like nothing has been done since the 80s. Rooms only have central aircon which can’t be regulated, pretty weak. No smart tv, just Italian channels. Few plugs and just very old furniture. No coffee maker, no ironing board. None of the amenities hotels nowadays have. Price is not cheap, about €250 per night- I guess it’s time for a renovation!

Fantastic location vary convenient ferry links and transport around the lake. Hotel is now showing its age but kept very clean, hotel staff were very helpful. The only thing missing was in room coffee-tea making facilities which would of made mornings more enjoyable while sitting on your balcony.

I would say this hotel looks much better in the photos than it does in real life. This hotel should be rated more as a 2 star or 3 star at most. The hotel is tired and too big to manage well. For example, there was clear deterioration of the decor noticeable within the rooms. Also the bedding is not comfortable, and strangely no mattress protectors on the beds which hygienically is not good. The hotel itself is so big that it took about 10 minutes to walk from the room to the hotel, which made me personally feel unsafe. I wouldn’t stay here again, mainly because of the broken parts of the hotel like the swimming pool jacuzzi. I would say however, the swimming deck to swim into the lake is very good and inviting (once you get over the very discoloured sun loungers).

A truly beautiful area great restaurants in the area not many shops but those available are great. Breakfast buffet is out of the world. Beds are comfortable and rooms are of good size. Will definitely stay again.
