Best Western PLUS Cotton Tree Inn

The reviews on this hotel are very suspect. I don't normally look at staying at a Best Western, but the reviews and the location made me give this one a shot. It was a mistake. The place was dated and very dingy. I could get past that, but when I got to my room it was even worse. The room smelled very strongly of old stale smoke. It was supposed to me a no smoking room, but clearly was not. Beyond that, it was just dirty overall. the carpets were stained and smelly and there was this accumulation of dust along the edges by the walls all over. Clearly cleaning is not a priority here. I found plastic a plastic bag with a previous guests trash next the microwave so who knows what else was missed. The worst was the bathroom, there was lotion or conditioner dropped on the toilet seat, and then an oily or pasty residue left on multiple locations on the bathroom counter. It clearly wasn't wiped down at all between guests. This does not give a comfortable feeling about the overall care in preparing the rooms between guests. I would not choose to stay here again, and I could not recommend it to anyone.

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend away, and it was absolutely perfect. We specifically booked a room with a jacuzzi tub, and it did not disappoint. The room was spacious and well-appointed, featuring two TVs, a gas fireplace, and its own air conditioning unit. We loved soaking in the tub with the fireplace on—it was the highlight of our trip. The breakfast was good, and the desk was adequate for some remote work. The only minor note is that the bed was a bit too soft for my personal preference, but it didn't detract from our wonderful stay. We will definitely be returning!

The hotel is in a good area, there was plenty of parking, and it was quiet. However, the room had a musty smell and the AC filter hadn't been changed in a very long time. The pillows weren't too comfortable. The gym was ok, but missing necessary equipment, like free weights and mats. It could definitely use some upgrades.
