San Gabriel de las Palmas has been owned since 1970 by a remarkable and dedicated famility, to restore and modernize this unique 5 starts Hotel. The gardens and property are beautifully kept, the suites and rooms are perfect as well as the common areas like restaurants, bars, swimming pools and Spa. A must if you visit Cuernavavaca and do not have a place to Stay, SaGabriel de las Palmas IS the choice.

I loved the Hacienda and will certainly go back. It’s a museum.

We went there for a relaxing family weekend and, although the rooms are beautiful, one can feel the history and the staff is very friendly, we were a little bit disappointed. The room, although beautiful and big did not have internet and the jacuzzi was not working. Every morning, at 8am, staff would chat just under our window, waking us up. The hacienda is beautiful and there are lots of hidden spots, however, walking the property, I was disappointed at how it was maintained. You could see trash in a lot of places, and as soon as you would wander off the main road, the gardens were dirty and unorganized. The staff was very friendly but the food just average and the pool was dirty with murky water. Overall it was not a bad stay, it just didn't meet our expectations, especially considering the price.

We came to Mexico City for our friend’s destination wedding. They said the location is two and half hours south of the City, but not to worry as they would have a shuttle take the guests out to the Hacienda San Gabriel, in the Cuernavaca area. On the day of travel, we boarded the shuttle for the transport to the Hacienda. It is actually located 35 minutes south of Cuernavaca in Amacuzac, Morelos. The Hacienda was a sugar cane plantation and it still grows sugar cane as evidenced from the canes in the fields on this large property. But the main part of Hacienda is beautiful from the rooms, swimming pools, restaurant and the grounds. Our friends had a pre-wedding reception party at the bar/pool area for the guests. The next day, the wedding was held in a large lawn area that was beautifully set-up. After the wedding the guests walked to the waterfall area for the reception. Then we all proceeded t to the restaurant for the dinner/reception. It was a beautiful wedding event at the Hacienda all around. For amenities, we did horseback riding, which was an hour ride guide by a vaquero, though the Hacienda property. You can swim, play tennis, go to the spa and play billiards. The restaurant offers a breakfast buffet and a set menu at the patio area. There was free wi-fi, but it was limited to the area around the hotel office and restaurant. Due to the stone walls, you cannot pick-up wi-fi from your room. Wished there were routers in the rooms. It was nice experience being in a lovely Hacienda. Beautiful grounds and friendly service.

We stayed here for Christmas Eve and Christmas day. It was indeed a beautiful getaway from the city. I really enjoyed the peaceful gardens and pool, there are beautiful corners everywhere where you can take a book or just relax. We had a massage at the spa (Experiencia Elementos) and it was delicious, Rocio and Giovana were very professional and we ended from there really happy and relaxed. The spa is very well cared and pretty. At the restaurant we had mixed experiences with a couple of big flaws. Service very friendly, but usually slow. Damaris, Juan Carlos and Arturo were our waiters almost always and they provided a very nice service, but it looks like at the kitchen things were really slow. Also I had to return a ceviche I ordered because it was not good at all, fish was not fresh, it was fishy and I couldn't eat it. However they didn't charge it. Christmas dinner was perfect, even if we didn't have all the menu, salad and dessert were great. I would like also to see an upgrade to the rooms, they could keep the essence of being an old place but modernizing some furnishings and bathrooms. And also better illumination. Overall, we had a very nice Christmas getaway! This is an amazing place and could certainly do it better.

The most gorgeous South American place that I've ever seen.This magnificent 1529 hacienda has been many things to many people in its past life and is still going strong! All employees (from the groundkeepers all the way up) were courteous, polite, and willing to assist. The restaurant staff went above and beyond, preparing awesome, healthy, tasty, vegan meals for our group of 7. The grounds were spectacular, beautiful, and well maintained with species of flowers, plants, & old trees. There's something unique, beautiful, and a surprise to see around every turn, whether you're inside or outside. I would highly encourage you, if you are interested in architecture, botany, conservation, interior design/decor, antiques, photography, or plein air painting, that you put this place first on your list to visit. It's also a great place to just relax, have a romantic evening, a wedding, or some other luxurious adventure. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and beautiful. Many amenities such as a spa, swimming pool, full bar, wifi, etc. Last, but not least, Juan Fenton, is a great host!

I love this hotel. I think it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. The grounds are gorgeous and the staff is kind and helpful. The major complaint I have is the policy that the price of each room only includes one child. The first line of the hotel description on Expedia says “This family-friendly hotel...” A hotel Is not family friendly if only one child is included in the price and then you have to pay $30 per child after that. I have never heard of a hotel for families that assumes you only have one child. They actually suggested that my husband and I split up into two different rooms with the children because we have four children. My children are all under the age of 8 and we can all easily fit in one of the rooms here. In fact, on Expedia you can’t even get a room here if you put 2 adults and 2 children in the search. It tells you that it exceeds the maximum number of guests. Expedia needs to change the family friendly wording because as gorgeous as this place is, I don’t feel that they actually want families to stay here. We were told there was horseback riding and when we went to ask, they said it was only for adults. This is the perfect place for adults or adults who only have one child. I want to come again, but I hate having to pay extra.

Went there looking for a place for a wedding, the hotel is absolutely beautiful, very well maintained, has many corners and areas for private parties. Took a tour of the Hacienda which was very enjoyable and educational. The only problem we encountered was the food, it does not match the quality of the hotel. We ate at the restaurant and were disappointed plus the service was not the best. We all agreed that a great part of a wedding is the food and they couldn’t do that to our guests. I will love to go back to the hacienda with the hopes that they change chefs and if possible make their menu a little more traditional Mexican and less gourmet.
