Mangapapa Hotel

The property is beautifully maintained, and you get to wake up surrounded by gorgeous greenery and to the sounds of nature (the cutest, little lambs). Although the property is situated on a stretch of busy streets, you barely hear any traffic noises. Perfect for switching off and relaxing. Opting for the Lady Watties suite, we had the luxury of our own private spa bath. Our stay got me hooked onto their delicious coffee, and had me purchasing the same coffee beans for home. As a happy coincidence, I also found my favorite cider on my visit. We dined at the restaurant and opted for a 3-course meal. They were very accommodating of our dietary needs, and the food was lovingly prepared and tasted exceptional. The breakfast was some of the best food I've ever tasted. Everything was freshly made, and tasted divine. The attention to detail on each element of every dish was phenomenal. It was a wonderful experience, one I will not forget soon.

Mangapapa is our special place to stay when in the bay. It's perfect, safe and secure, relaxed, stunning homestead and gardens, beautiful rooms, great parking and outstanding food and service. Great value

Stayed only one night enroute to Gisborne but so enjoyed the comfortable suite the log fire and the superb cuisine. The staff were unobtrusive but very helpful. There is not a better boutique hotel or lodge on the east coast.

Mangapapa is by far the best place we stayed on our last trip, I can't really fault it. We stayed one night on our way back to Auckland, the room was clean, quiet, comfortable and well appointed. The shower had great pressure with a generous array of toiletries available. Dinner was an absolute standout. I enjoyed one of the finest steak and wine pairings I’ve ever had—beautifully prepared and perfectly matched. Despite staying on a quiet Sunday night at the end of the school holidays, when we were the only overnight guests, the staff never missed a beat. They were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It was a flawless experience, and we’ll absolutely be back next time we’re in the area. Highly recommended.

A beautiful rural property with adorable sheep and apple trees lining the drive. The staff is super helpful, plus the food is incredible. The only issue was the bathroom. The tub has a fixed glass panel, so you have to climb in the tub to start the water. Awkward and cold! Plus the floor tile threshold is a bit sharp on your feet.

Staff were excellent and very helpful. Sauna was a nice touch. Location was beautiful and close to shops/restaurants.

Bed were a bit soft for my liking.
