Coldra Court Hotel by Celtic Manor

We had a wonderful stay and found the location very convenient for a night away. A lovely surprise was being upgraded to a suite for my fiancé's first Father's Day, which made our stay even more special. We were very grateful for the thoughtful gesture. Communication before arrival was excellent. We received a call on the morning of our stay to confirm check-in times, answer any questions we had, and check if there was anything we needed. This was a great touch and made us feel well looked after. The suite was extremely spacious and would be perfect for either a family stay or a special treat for a couple. The lounge area included a four-seater dining table, two comfortable two-seater sofas, a TV, air conditioning, and a wine fridge stocked with complimentary water and Welsh cakes. The bedroom was equally impressive, featuring a large comfortable bed, an armchair, two bedside tables with large lamps, a dressing table, TV, chest of drawers, and air conditioning. The bathroom was very spacious, with a large wardrobe featuring mirrored doors and a large bathroom mirror. The complimentary Elemis toiletries were a lovely finishing touch. The bathroom had a shower rather than a bath, which suited us perfectly. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would happily return.

There were a few areas that could be improved. Our room was located directly next to the spa facilities, which meant privacy was a little limited. We found ourselves keeping the bedroom curtains closed as people could easily see into the room. A net curtain or privacy screen would be a great addition, allowing guests to enjoy the view while maintaining privacy. The room was also quite noisy at times. We appreciate that it was a Saturday night on Father's Day weekend, so there were naturally lots of families and excited children staying. However, we could clearly hear conversations and children's excited screams from the room next door, even when we were in the bedroom with the door closed and the lounge separating the two rooms. Noise from the corridor was also noticeable, particularly from guests entering and leaving the spa facilities and main hallway, with conversations and doors closing carrying into the room. We were also surprised to hear people moving around and talking in the room above, as we expected an older building to have better sound insulation. Things became much quieter after 10pm, so it wasn't a major issue overnight. However, activity started up again from around 7am on Sunday morning, which made it difficult to enjoy a relaxing lie-in. The room was clean and well presented, although some areas felt a little dated and could benefit from refreshing. Parking was located a short walk from the hotel rather than directly outside, but this wasn't a significant inconvenience. Would return, thank you for a lovely stay.

Well maintained hotel. Clean, tidy, helpful staff. Would definitely return, and definitely recommend. Food in the restaurant was nice, and the breakfast was as you'd want too. Happy with the stay.
