Best Western Plus Suites Downtown

The property, although convenient to downtown, was noisy and a lack of parking unless you pay. The paying for parking, seems to me like a money grab on an already expensive room. The room we stayed in was the 2 bedroom apartment. The plugs in the bedroom did not work and the coffee machine was finicky. Also, the 1 night we stayed, there was a false fire alarm at 1230 am, waking myself and my kids up. Although not the hotel's fault, the rest of the night was really bad, my kids were scared, and we all could not sleep. Upon checkout, all the hotel offered was to refund the uneccessary parking charge, a measley $ 21. I felt that was not enough compensation, especially since it is a greedy charge to begin with. Tsk tsk. DONT STAY HERE. I know I won't again based on all of the factors.

The suite had 2 separate bedrooms and plenty of space in the common area to accommodate our whole family. The suite was equipped with utensils and kitchen ware that enabled us to prepare food in the room if needed.

The water in the washroom was discolored, with a noticeable yellow tint coming from the faucet. It was quite concerning and affected our overall experience.

Good value for money. Outdated but does the job.

Only two elevators, wait time was too long.

Rough neighbourhood

Staff was responsive to my complaints but hotel is old and run down. Smelled of old smoke. Pull out couch had a dirty old sheet on it. Hair all over bathroom floor. Gum stuck on sign outside of elevator on 11th floor.

This hotel was a solid stay. The staff were incredibly friendly. The breakfast was a highlight with a large breakfast room. The beds were very comfortable and the a/c worked great. Would definitely stay again. The only thing to be improved on is that our room could use a deep clean. The linen and everyday stuff was all clean and wiped, but the bathtub grout was pink and a bit of pink mold coming in the bathtub corner. The bathroom plug could not be used as there was so much hair in the drain it wouldn’t seal. The mirror was covered in so many kid fingerprints it was not useable from waist height down. Might be time for some deep cleaning of the rooms. Overall great stay though.

My wife and I stayed here the last week in June. The hotel is quite far from the centre of Calgary, a good 30 mins walk and has some blocks next to it that are unoccupied and surrounded by fences so initial impressions are it's not great.However, it was a convenient location, our suite was large with a super comfy bed, and a fully equipped kitchenette. The breakfast provided free of charge was a good start to the day and kept us going. All reception staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. There is a large Safeway nearby which is very handy. It is worth leaving the front of the hotel and turning left and walking down to 17th Street for restaurants and bars. We only found these on our last night and the place was jumping. Unfortunately, when we booked we were not aware there was a Rotary convention in town so our first three nights were a lot more expensive than the last three. C'est la vie!!
