Canterra Suites Hotel

Our room was beautiful, spacious and the bed was very comfortable, the location was optimal for walking to many different amenities and all of the staff were friendly and very helpful, from now on this will be my hotel of choice when visiting Edmonton.

The staff is amazing! Exceptional sense of humor, extremely friendly and very accommodating. Would run out of their way to make your stay exquisite! They totally deserve a raise, every one of the receptionist girls 💙 I am so grateful for early check-in and slightly later checking out - this improved my stay tremendously! I loved the "fireplace", I spent several hours reading in front of it, very satisfying! Cool hangers in the wardrobe, never seen this design, very smart! In suite laundry facility - great for a longer stay. Complimentary washing solution (but no drying sheets for the dryer, or maybe I did not see them) Great cosmetics - the smell, texture, everything is just wow. Nice location - very close to the Ukrainian embassy that I came to visit, lots of food options nearby.

My overall concern is about things that mostly depend on the owner. 1. Both TVs are not centered on both the couch and bed. It is just ridiculous, honestly. Who did the interior functionality check? They definitely don't know their job. 2. This hotel offers no slippers. The tiled floors are EXTREMELY cold. So you either have to put towels on the floor, which I consider very unhygienic, or tiptoe to the carpeted zone as fast as you can. Or if you're American you might just walk over in your shoes 🫣 3. No trash bag in the bathroom. Unhygienic and honestly weird. What if the guest is on her period? Should the hygienic product go straight into the metal bin, so the maid would clean the whole bucket? 4. Overall the bathroom could benefit from a bit more small things - q-tips, toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, for example. A mat instead of a towel in front of the sink and a toilet. The towel is too small to be covering all the zones I stand in, and the floor was freezing my feet. 5. Only black tea is available. No decaf, herbal or green tea options, which is a bit disappointing, since I'm not a coffee person. And no kettle to the boot. Only a coffee machine and a microwave to make hot water. I managed, but it wasn't very comfortable. 6. The mattress is too soft. This is purely personal preference, and I struggle a lot with this, because every hotel in the world seems to favor soft over hard or even medium mattresses. My back is not happy about this tendency. 7. The office room doesn't have enough natural light. I think it could benefit from moving the table to the window. 8. The blanket is very thin. For the winter it is clearly not enough, and the only option available to ask for is a throw blanket. It was warm enough, but obviously old, which brings me to my final point. 9. I think that a lot of things in this hotel could benefit from a cosmetic touch up.
