"Favorite Hotel in Santa Fe 🌶️"

10.0

I recently attended a lecture at the Lensic Theater in Santa Fe. I looked for a nearby hotel and was so pleased that I chose the Inn of the Governors. The location is only a couple blocks from the plaza and near the shops, restaurants and museums. The hotel/motel is wonderfully maintained and has cozy common areas and lovely landscaping. The floral window boxes are amazing. The Inn is over 60 years old and has the New Mexico charm missing from newer hotels. The rooms have tin work vanity containers, Navajo style blankets, rustic wood and leather furniture, hand painted mirrors, and a tinwork ice bucket. At check- in you will also receive a four page information guide to the area. The packet includes two maps ( northern New Mexico and downtown Santa Fe) as well as a comprehensive restaurant guide and hotel information. The staff is very welcoming and helpful— even finding me a band- aid and some ointment in the front desk first aid kit. They also have a filtered water fountain in the lobby so visitors can easily fill water bottles. They seem to have thought of everything -including robes if you want to take a dip in the pool. The hotel also hosts a sherry and cookie hour each afternoon. The cookies offered yesterday were biscochitos - the New Mexico State cookie. This morning I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. Unlike hotels that provide a breakfast buffet—this meal is ordered from a menu. I had eggs, bacon, tortillas, orange juice, coffee and yogurt with granola. The parking is also complimentary. The bedding was comfortable, the air conditioning was quietly efficient and the room was spotless. I was charmed! My next visit will include a stay at the Inn of the Governors.

"Comfortable, great location, wonderful breakfasts"

8.0

First time staying here. As other reviewers note, this is in a great location near the plaza, many restaurants, shops, museums, the state Capitol. You can walk and just leave your car in the hotel's free parking. The complimentary cooked-to-order breakfasts were great at adjoining Del Charro (restaurant/bar) patio. We ate two dinners there as well, which were delicious and reasonably priced for Santa Fe. We had one of the smaller, older rooms, which was comfortable and nicely decorated in Southwestern style. It had a small refrigerator, chest of drawers, desk, stationery, two nice cotton robes in the closet, safe, iron and ironing board. The bath/shower was older and the tile around the faucet needed re-grouting or resealing, but was very clean, no mold. Didn't use the small pool, but patio area around it looked inviting. There's a free sherry and cookies reception in the afternoon. Saturday night around the plaza is very busy, lots of noisy vehicles (low-rider cars, motorcycles). Sunday and Monday nights were more quiet, thank goodness. The hotel thoughtfully supplies earplugs with the bathroom amenities! Staff is friendly and courteous - many of them have been there for decades. The flowers on the balconies are gorgeous.

"Wonderful stay with superb staff, seamless check-in, a simple but very clean room."

9.0

We had a great stay. The staff was superb, and the check-in process was seamless. Our room was simple, but very clean and comfortable. We loved the sherry hour and the overall look and feel of the property. Parking was easy, and the parking assistant was incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast was just okay, but overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

"Great value near the Santa Fe Plaza!"

10.0

We love the Inn of the Governors for many reasons. You can't beat the value for this property! With it's close proximity to the Plaza, it is in walking distance to many of the best restaurants, shops and things to do. The rooms are clean, the staff is welcoming, made to order breakfast is included (best huevos rancheros!). The pool is small but much needed on hot NM afternoons. Love the ambiance with all of the flowers on the property. Free parking. They also serve complimentary sherry and biscochitos (delicious local cookies) each evening. Book a room with a fireplace in the colder months. Love the rooms with balconies too!

"We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend this inn and definitely stay again should we return to Santa Fe."

9.0

It is a beautiful property with well cared for exterior landscaping, flower boxes and garden art. The interior lobby and breakfast areas are nicely decorated, and comfortable. The staff, particularly at the front desk and in the dining room are friendly and helpful. Our rooms (235 & 237) are lovely with the kiva fireplaces, decor and furniture that fits the theme of this inn. The rooms are spacious and we were happy that these two can be connected. It was quiet at night and we were within walking distance to everything we hoped to see.

The only two things that I didn’t like was the mattress in my room (237) because while the softness was nice, it clearly has slept two people for many years and so there are noticeable dips on each side. To get more back support, I had to lay in the middle but that wasn’t great because if I rolled onto my side I felt myself slipping to either side of the bed. The other thing that was a little disappointing was the lack of gluten free breakfast choices. There was the same gf muffin offered each morning, but it would have been great to have a choice of toast, gf granola or even pancakes for variety.
