Moda Hotel

I was really impressed that we were able to stay in a clean comfortable hotel in a good area of Vancouver for such a reasonable price. Completely satisfied with the experience!

Centrally located, the room was clean and comfortable. Really just used the hotel to sleep after trying the bar one night and being treated rudely by the bartender. Made a throat slashing gesture when I walked in at about 10:15PM. When I asked what that was about, he said he had already called last call and they weren't serving. I understand that, but maybe use your words the next time! I immediately talked to the front desk about the situation and the guy on duty didn't seem too interested and made a series of excuses. I'd suggest the Irish pub about a block away. Good prices, better atmosphere and no throat slashing gestures from the staff.

The insulation between floors was not good ...we could haer people walking upstairs, showering, flushing toilet...the first night there was drilling noise that woke us up, and kept us awake for awhile...the sheets were crinkly, not smooth. Felt like I was covered with a shower curtain liner...

Location is very convenient, staff are friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Slightly older building and room, but the bed was comfortable and the pillows were excellent. Great value for the price.

Traffic noise at night

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and always greeted us as we passed through the lobby. The hotel is centrally located in Downtown Vancouver and its easy to walk to nearby bus stops and train stations or just to nearby businesses and sights. The hotel also provided discounts for nearby businesses, including an adjacent italian restaurant and a cocktail bar.

The room we stayed in was noisy, mainly due to the age of the building, the windows are old single glazed panels with a second sliding screen on the inside. Neither of these stop any of the noise from outside coming in, and given the location is a relatively busy intersection, traffic noise and people noise from nearby bars is high. Additionally, the location is in a bit of a run down area, a fact made more noticable given that every time our room was visited by housekeeping, they left the window open, letting the smell of urine in from the street.
