Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort and Spa

I found Sanctuary through random online research last year. I’m recently divorced and although I REALLY needed a vacation, friend schedules weren’t lining up, so I needed a small, safe, comfortable option where I could travel solo. I had such a wonderful time last year that I decided to kick off this summer the same way, and I didn’t even consider inviting a friend! This resort has the perfect balance - it’s busy enough without being packed, small enough to not feel overwhelming while also big enough to not be overcrowded. The pool waitstaff were wonderful, and Dolores was lovely about helping to find a seat each day and making sure there was always fresh iced water in pitchers. There is a PERFECT ratio of people to loungers - at many resorts, I find you have to race to get to the pool early, and/or people abuse and “save” seats despite not using them. Here, you can definitely get a better spot earlier (like 10am, not 7am early), but there would always be at least a few chairs somewhere, and people turned over throughout the day enough for shifting to occur. The whole team does a great job ensuring this process runs smoothly and unused chairs are turned over quickly. The patrons were also a great mix - I didn’t feel like the only solo traveler among only couples, and there were no overly loud spring-break style party groups. Hurley and the rest of the jade bar staff were wonderful and welcoming, so I didn’t feel awkward eating dinner alone while reading my kindle :) Also: sushi at the Jade Bar was amazing and I had the same thing every night. Rooms are great, food is great (elemental breakfast, acai bowl, and salads were my other go-tos) and the entire staff is top notch. It was a truly lovely experience all-around and I will recommend it to anyone who asks!

This was an amazing getaway from start to finish. We stayed at the small villas and were very satisfied with the cleanliness of our room and the level of comfortability that was provided. We took advantage of all of the amenities and had a wonderful time dining and socializing. The spa was the icing on the cake. We will definitely be back!

The pool area and grounds need significant renovation and maintenance. I had not been to this property since 3017 and was surprised as it is a beautiful property. The suites were in good condition and the service and food were outstanding.

We wanted to love The Sanctuary because it looks beautiful in the photos and the location is great. We stayed in a Camelback view King suite. On the plus side, our room had lovely views of Camelback mountain and was newly renovated so looked very pretty. Our primary issue was that there was not reliable water in our room. On 3 separate occasions during our 3 night stay the water stopped working completely. When the water was working, there was a lot of air in the lines so the water sprayed everywhere and consistently sounded like the water had just turned back on. We reported this to the front desk, but it continued to happen throughout the rest of our stay. We were washing our hands, brushing our teeth, etc. with bottled water when there wasn’t running water. It was absurd for $1100/night and extremely disappointing that the hotel didn’t do anything about it. In addition, the air conditioning unit was so loud that you couldn’t watch TV and it was hard to sleep.

From check in to check out, every member of the staff was very accommodating. The room was very clean and had a very nice view. The staff at the pool and the valet staff that drove us to and from our room in golf carts were so friendly and very happy to help. Great experience!

Beautiful resort and amenities! Tucked in on the north side of Camelback mountain, Sanctuary is a wonderful place to relax, enjoy the day at the pool and SPA, and have an amazing meal at Elements!

Nestled up in the mountains in a beautiful spot lots of places to explore and walk. All the landscaping was beautifully kept. I miss it already.

The property is amazing and a great location. The entire staff is helpful and friendly. The dining at Elements wont disappoint, the menu has a great selection and the staff his very welcoming. My husband and I will be returning in the near future to enjoy the area and each other.
