There was some confusion about our stay which stretched check-in to 20 minutes. Once I was home I got a rather curt little Email saying as we had not turned up we would be charged the full amount & could I provide another card as my original card had been declined. Galling, as not only did I know we had paid in full but I could see it on my account. All this after there was no hot water available… on the morning I was heading to a wedding. To be honest I felt they should be taking money OFF my bill, not querying my payment

Like many other guests, I was encouraged by the high ratings and positive reviews when booking this Holiday Inn. Unfortunately, my experience did not quite match those expectations. The room was very small for a family of two adults and a toddler. Once the sofa bed was extended, there was hardly any space left to use the table. I was also surprised that no complimentary bottled water was provided in the room. While this may not be a major issue for everyone, it is a basic amenity that many hotels offer and one that guests often appreciate. More concerning, however, were several maintenance and housekeeping issues. The hairdryer was not working, the TV remote was faulty, and the toilet flush required multiple attempts before it worked properly. In addition, there was leftover water in the kettle from a previous guest, which suggested that basic checks and cleaning had been overlooked. Individually, these may seem like minor issues, but together they affected the overall quality of the stay. If guests are expected to overlook and adapt to several shortcomings, it becomes difficult to justify the hotel's rating. Based on my experience, this did not feel like the standard I would normally expect from a Holiday Inn.
