Good location for Union Square and getting to the piers. Easy taxi ride to other areas. Room was clean and has everything needed. Breakfast was great - unfussy but just what was needed. Nice little tapas restaurant on site with a bar.

Really just one thing - the noise. I was at the front and the street noise was very, very loud. The windows are single pane and in fact, mine was slightly damaged so there was an open channel to the outside. The street was incredibly noisy.

The property has a central location and in a traditional style, the bed was comfortable, breakfast was adequate and staff were friendly.

The noise outside throughout the night and early morning , the noise felt like the windows were open it was so loud, we had little sleep in 3 nights.

Our experience with the Nob Hill Hotel in San Francisco was unfortunately quite disappointing. Before our arrival, I contacted the hotel to ask whether it would be possible to arrange an early check-in for an additional fee, as the standard check-in time is 3:00 PM. I received a reply stating that they would do their best to accommodate our request. They explained that they could not guarantee an exact time, but expected that a room might be ready by around 10:30 AM. When we arrived at the hotel, the receptionist told us that all rooms were occupied and that there was no possibility of providing an early check-in, even for an additional charge. What made this difficult to understand was that we could clearly see guests checking out, leaving with their luggage, returning their keys, and departing the hotel. Housekeeping staff should also have been actively preparing rooms by that time, as it was already around 11:00 AM. The receptionist then told us he would try to make a room available as quickly as possible and asked us to return at 4:00 PM. This was confusing, considering that the official check-in time is 3:00 PM. If he was truly trying to help us as quickly as possible, asking us to come back an hour after the standard check-in time did not make much sense. We explained that we had been traveling for two days and were extremely tired. Since we had booked two rooms for two couples, I politely asked whether at least one room could be made available earlier. Even a single room would have made a significant difference. The receptionist assured us that as soon as a room was ready, he would call us immediately. Unfortunately, no one ever called. In the end, we returned after 4:00 PM as instructed. By that point, we were exhausted and quite disappointed. What bothered us most was that the email correspondence gave the impression that an early check-in was highly likely. Looking back, it feels as though the hotel simply did not want to risk losing our reservation and therefore avoided being fully transparent. The reality, according to the receptionist, was that early check-in was not possible at all. The overall attitude of the front desk staff was not particularly welcoming. The first receptionist was rather unfriendly, and the others we encountered seemed more focused on their phones than on the guests standing in front of them. We never felt genuinely welcomed or valued as customers. As for the hotel itself, it did not provide the level of comfort and hospitality one would expect. The fact that it has a century-old elevator is an interesting historical detail, but people do not choose a hotel simply for curiosities. The breakfast was another disappointment. We found it barely edible. We entered the breakfast area, looked at the selection, tried a few items, and quickly decided to leave. The offerings consisted mostly of very cheap bread and basic products. Honestly, if there had not been apples available, it would have been difficult to find anything worth eating. Hotel has cheap chinise furniture. For these reasons, I cannot recommend this hotel.
