Matabi Hotel Toulouse Gare by HappyCulture

The rooms (we'd booked 4 rooms in total, 2 of the 3 person rooms and 2 twins) were good sized for European multi-person rooms. Good re-done bathrooms and great, new linens. Free use of the espresso machine all day and night is an excellent perk. Location is directly across the street from the Gare and the drop off/pick up from the airport shuttle is also across the street. Prime location.

The exterior of the building is covered in scaffolding and has been for years. I should have known this as I have stayed in the hotel next door for nearly a decade, but this one had superior reviews. The interior courtyard also has the same scaffolding. Additionally, the 2 parts of the building are connected through a door/window that one has to go outside and then in to get to the other part. Yes, very old buildings have quirks, but this layout just needs much better signage. The elevator. There is a lift, yes. Do not recommend unless absolutely necessary.

I'd asked for a quiet room and that was provided, but with a twist. Finding the room was a hunt! There are two parts of the old buildings connected and one must go through a door/window out on a balcony through another door to the other building? Terrible signage and layout of the entire building for this process. Overall the rooms appear to be good sized for European hotel rooms. Bathroom was also good sized.

This was part of a larger booking of 5 total rooms. I'd spoken with staff members about holding our luggage for 11 persons (1 small suitcase and 1 backpack per person, but still a lot of stuff) for a few hours after check out. They all said not a problem. When we returned to get our things from the same man who stowed our things and checked us out of the hotel, he thought that we were checking in. It was stressful and confusing. Again, this was the same person who had handled this for us about 5 hours previous. I'm still unsure what the issue was.
