Doubletree By Hilton Helena Downtown

This is a very nice hotel with an outstanding location on the downtown pedestrian mall. The room was clean and comfortable, and we slept well. We could open the balcony window to get fresh air and to see more of the historic Last Chance Gulch view. We could walk to many delicious restaurants, the artist galleries, the bookstores. The only thing lacking was adequate Wi Fi. It was difficult to even load our morning news. We ate at the downstairs restaurant the first morning: decent but nothing special. There are more interesting options within walking distance. A parking lot is conveniently located outside the hotel. The desk staff was friendly and responsive, except they could do nothing about the weak WiFi! Yes, we will stay here again.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bedrooms were very clean and tidy and the beds very comfortable - we stayed for a total of 3 nights spread over 2 weeks.

Short of staff - restricted breakfast service on the first 2 mornings and they ran out of orange juice - kitchen chef was off sick. When we came back for the 3rd night stay, the chef had quit at short notice and there was even less breakfast available. This was a problem as on a Sunday morning at 9 am, there wasn’t really any alternatives in Helena. The courtesy airport shuttle was not available to us and we had to call an Uber - this again was due to staff shortage and no one being able to cover the front desk - this was a key feature as part of the booking decision as Helena airport does not have taxis.

Housekeeping went in room when door was clearly marked for no service. Management didn’t seem to care when the issue was brought to their attention. Don’t expect your possessions to be safe from housekeeping even when you clearly communicate for them to stay out of the room.

You need to be aware that the hotel staff will disregard your privacy and they’ll enter your room despite the do not disturb card being placed on your door. It’s not clear why they give you the option, so just know going here what to expect. Prepare to feel violated and question if your belongings are missing.
