Mimi Hotel Chisinau Jolly Alon

The hotel is located in the very city center of Chisinau (Moldova), rooms are fully furnised, restaurant offers all types of the meal starting from breakfast till late dinner. staff is frienly and the atmoshere is good.

As with a lot of negative reviews, the management will post a reply saying "contacts us so we can improve". Well I did. Whilst I was there. I booked a room with a veranda and black out curtains.. I was down graded on arrival to one with neither. I called the reception and was eventually shown a room with a veranda but not black out curtains. I was then shown a room with "black out curtains" which were not. Later I note that aircon is not working. Call reception to be told no one was coming to fix it and how about i open the door? So I open the door to the swarm of bugs and bity inset who are merrily dancing to the significantly loud bass from the Karaoke club next to the park. Door closed again the the temperature hits 28 degrees in the room. The next morning they say the aircon was out over the whole hotel and that it would not be on the next nights either. Due to no sleep I get to the restaurant for breakfast a minute past 10am and its closed. I almost had to beg for a coffee (NOTE - there are no tea or coffee making facilities in their rooms) I Check out and move across town to a hotel with all my requirements. It's a shame - it could be such a lovely hotel but who ever owns and managers is has no idea about running a hotel. It's full of trinkets and gimmicks and misses the basics. Hospitality - Good rest and sleep and service. MIsses on all fronts.

Went to this hotel as part of a package for the Scotland vs Moldova. Staff were great and really friendly. Very spacious rooms, comfortable bed and a great shower! Superb location for walking into the centre or going to see the nearby cathedral/government building! Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Chisinau.

I guess this used to be a quite good hotel 15-20 years ago, but it is not any more. The hotel represents a genuine post-Soviet atmosphere. The equipment, the decoration, the service are all available but in a most unpleasant way. For example, the hotel has pool and gym, but when you visit, you loose your desire to visit again. The rooms are quite OK, except that there is no proper light in the room. The architect might think that a fancy lightening was created with all the hidden lights, but the consequence is that the room remains dark, you cannot even read after sunset. But! But the chef of the restaurant is absolutely number one! The restaurant is the sole reason to return here, but after having enjoyed your dinner, you should better return to sleep at another hotel you chose.

A very central hotel in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. Excellent service, marwellous breakfast and lunch and dinner and I enjoyed it very much. It was somewhat puzzling understanding how to put on the lights in the room. You are supposed to put your card key into the box on the well. Put it straight in and then push the buttons inside the room so you get light. There was so much to do during the conference of Olof Palme International Center, Stockholm, Sweden, so four days conference went by like lightning.

Sijainti on erinomainen ja rauhallinen suuren puiston äärellä, vaikka onkin aivan keskustassa. Aamiainen kaikin puolin hyvä ja monipuolinen. Ainoa miinus tulee kokolattiamatosta ja siitä, että peili oli vain toiletissa.

After staying in very nice hotels with lot of space Jolly Alon is a disappointment. The rooms are small and if you get one facing the yard you won't have a balcony which would give a sense of more space. The lighting system has been mentioned in other reviews and it is really something - at least in nr 419. I am not sure if an engineer would be able to find the logic in how to turn on the lights in order to really have lights when you need them. So remember to pack your bags while there still is some day-light - otherwise it might be difficult to see what is left behind. The bathroom has no space for your toiletbag, otherwise clean and functioning. The brakfast could be vastly improved if fried eggs woud be served warm and not cold. That also goes for all the "warm" food. And the waiters could be instructed in not disturbing the customers while eating the breakfast. Now the waiters are very eager to remove plates and glasses while you still have food on or in them. The Lobby Bar is working sometimes, nobody really knows when. Do not count on the bar being open when you get back from town.

Location is not so bad, pretty downtown. Rooms are pretty small, a bit outdated furniture, bathrooms very modern and clean. The style wants to be posh. Staff was ok, but not enthusiastic... Breakfast was fine but lacks style. Wifi though was free but really bad.

I only stayed for one night in a modernized room, with those horrible flat sinks where everything from the inside of your mouth floats around and can't be removed easily. The light system in the bedroom is developed by a rocket scientist: lights go on and off at different locations. Reading light for the bed is -as usual in 4* properties- almost non-existant So either you keep your partner in the full-light or the reader in the dark. Breakfast was a scene from a hotel-comedy. The room is overseen by very young (cheap labour) children who have probably never stayed in a hotel and definitively don't speak English/French/German or Italian. They don't respond to questions for a cup and saucer, butter arrives after repeated requests and Jam/Jelly/confiture/ marmalade never shows up. On top of all: the airco unit is out of order. They offer a (yes a WHOLE 0,5 liter) 0,5 liter from the minibar for free!!
