The Richmond Hotel - Adelaide

The location of the Richmond is perfect. I’ve stayed here many times. The parking is convenient, especially if you have a larger vehicle.

The rooms are getting tired and dated. The bathrooms are huge but in need of some tlc. They are poorly cleaned. I suspect the cleaning staff are not allocated enough time. Once a month a deep clean would keep these maintained. There was black build up on the grout which was easily wiped off with my finger in the shower. The black buildup at the base of shower came off with a swipe of the towel. It is not good enough to leave bathrooms in a hotel like this. Management need to get in cleaners to deep clean this place so the daily cleaners can then just maintain the facilities. We didn’t have toilet paper in our room which was an oversight, but with no staff on the weekend was pretty inconvenient, and when we phoned to get a roll, it was suggested we wait till the bar opens at 10am to access toilets. Not partially helpful. I’d suggest having a cupboard security locked with access via a code for such emergencies. I wrote a private email as I don’t like public complaints, but seeing as they didn’t bother replying. Here it is.

Everything about this hotel is fantastic

There was little to like about this property. Initially, I wanted a hotel downtown Adelaide that was close to shops, restaurants, and public transport. It was close to public transport.

The hotel has very poor hospitality, policies, and communication. Their check-in hours are unreasonable, rigid, and inconvenient. Once you book, you cannot cancel, even when they refuse to make reasonable accommodations to allow you to check in outside their 2-5 pm lobby hours. Basically, they have your money, no refund if you arrive and can’t get inside the building. Their lobby entrance is inside a low-end mall across from a K-Mart with sketchy people hanging around in the evenings. It’s hard to find, and feels very seedy from start to finish.

Location - very central. This hotel has a history so is more interesting than the regular hotel

Location was central to everything. We either walked or caught public transport to our destinations. We only took the car out once during our stay as we weren’t sure about the public transport options

When we arrived our television wouldn’t work and there wasn’t any technician available until after we had checked out. Fortunately we were given an alternate room after two nights which was great. As we were there for the football, we wanted a working television so reception organised some seats in the restaurant/bar for us to watch the game. That was good but they closed at 9:00pm when it was only half time. Our daughter and her husband were staying in the hotel so we went to their room to watch the rest of the game
