Sonesta ES Suites Auburn Hills Detroit

I stayed at the Sonesta ES for two weeks due to a family emergency. The hotel is great for these more long-term stays. My room had a full kitchen and fridge. There was a spacious living room. The hotel property is very well maintained with lots of plants/good landscaping. There's a courtyard in the middle with a pool, barbecue and tables, basketball court, etc. There's always coffee in the lobby. It's overall a very comfortable place to stay, especially if you have an extended stay.

The rooms are not well cleaned. There was hair in the bathroom sink and shower when I arrived. The kitchen stools were dirty and stained. While the property and courtyard are well maintained, the rooms could use some TLC--a fresh coat of paint, some new furniture, deep cleaning of kitchen appliances like the stove and fridge.

That's I was able to cancel and find a better place

That it smelled like curry as soon as you opened the front door all the way to you room. Pictures on site are deceiving so save your money and stay away

Got first handicapped parking place right by Entrance. Desk Clerk was new but was amazing checking me in and answered all my questions.

Room was disappointing. Table in front of TV was chipped and missing blue paint. Bedroom wasn't vacuumed...had long black hair on floor and found 2 hairs in the bed I put my evening dress on. The vent panle for heat was rusted and dirty. Phone did not work so I had to walk down to Front Desk for answers. I am disabled and use a walker. Breakfast was disappointing. Pancake maker didn't work. Coffee creamer ran out along with 1 urn. I got the last of Coffee from the last urn. The workers had no uniforms so I didn't know who to ask to see WHEN they'd bring more out. No urns came out. I left at 9:05. Breakfast was served till 10am. There is NO ROOM CLEANUP, TRASH EMPTIED, STAFF TO VACUUM , ETC ON WEEKENDS! I was the Wedding Officiant for my Granddaughters wedding. Family was in and out, some gifts were wrapped and they brought snacks. I had dinner after the Rehearsal Luncheon the day before. The room was a mess on the wedding day. One Staff Clerk said I could come down and get a vacuum and another trash can.

Everything was good. Everything was just as advertised.

I liked everything.
