Hilton Mauritius Resort & Spa

Room was in excellent condition for cleanliness. Room we had is supposed to be ocean view but that's honestly stretching it a bit. It's more like you had a room for the infinity view rather than ocean view. I had an ocean view room in Maldives and our Hilton room couldn't provide 1/100th view of what the Maldives room provided. We had a view towards the infinity pool and the garden at best. We also had the half board option where you had to pay 185 rupees (~4 USD) for about 1 liter of water (still or seltzer) for the dinner portion of the half board. The access to the facilities was great. Free access to kayak, surf, standing kayak, and a few other non-motorized sailing equipment was great. We liked the fact that it was more mellow and quiet. I was really impressed with how as small as the room were, there were so many drawers and spaces for storage of items/clothing. For a Hilton Honors hotel though, this was truly a dissapointment as I tried to compare this to the Millenium Hilton in Bangkok(lower tier Hilton) and I paid less to stay there for a room than here. There was nothing grand about the room; terrace didn't have a cover while other rooms. I have now traveled quite a lot and I am disappointed. For the price I paid, I wish I went back to Maldives. At least, there I know I can enjoy it a lot more than I did here if I had to put up with bad food and bad treatment from staff

I doubt many here stayed at Millenium Hilton in Bangkok (comparison). The quality of food there compared to what this one offered is day and night different. There were samosas that I waited 15 minutes that never came out. The lamb chops were great but they ran out of them. Food in general is sub par - and that's saying a lot since a lot of the reviews here for this resort had positive feedback on food compared to other hotels/spas in Mauritius. Go to Bangkok and you will understand how crapy this place's food is- esp by Hilton's standard. I can't accept a fridge in my room can't go to at least 45F, unacceptable. Medicne I had might be ruined. The last thing that I will mention- the Guest service girl is racist at worst, ignorant and had a bad day at best (giving her the benefit of doubt). I specifically was told to let Guest services know when my photographer that I had hired was to arrive at the hotel so I went and tried to notify her. Rather than taking it upon herself to communicate this with the reception and the rest of the staff, she told me to do her job and go notify them myself. So I didThen, the receptionist was confused and came back to talk to her to which she promptly called the supervisor to get clearance if it were to be an issue. Thankfully, the supervisor was not against it and allowed the photographer to be on the premise. This could have been handled straight away if she actually respected me as a guest and talked to me in the first place to explain the rules. The part about the racism (and this is well known by a lot of Africans that visit Mauritius I guess)- the next day at breakfast, she was going around tables trying to upsell something (which I was not exactly sure of what it was wait for it - ) but she ignored our table and went around to all the other tables (honestly I am glad she did). But you know what- I don't really care because it's my own dollar they will miss for my next visit.

Old rooms. Old loud conditioners. I needed to call several times because they didn't clean my room and because of a lot of small problems. And it made me so tired and disappointed.

Great staff and service! Very welcoming, helpful, cheerful and always ready to help& support.
