Marriott's Grande Ocean

Beautiful way to celebrate our 56 anniversary, the entire staff were amazing , our life together has been wonderful life is good every day we thank the Lord for what have together our family thank you again Marriott for a wonderful week together

We have stayed at a number of Marriotts -- as always, will go through the list of pros and cons of this particular establishment. Pros: - Excellent view, especially the oceanfront rooms. The rooms overlooking the "lagoon" and pools also have a decent view, the resort is set up nicely and is generally clean. - Comfortable bed/mattress/pillows. - Beach area is generally clean, and they provide the tide times, as the area of the beach is much smaller at high tide. Beautiful views, and beautiful, convenient spot. - Kitchen/suite is well-equipped, including a kettle, toaster, blender, and colander. Only plastic cooking utensils are provided, however. There is an oven. - Parking is convenient, some underground spots close to the rooms. - No pets and smoking in designated areas is well-enforced, we only smelled smoke once during our stay, and only briefly. We also didn't encounter smoking on the beach. - Laundry machine in-suite is handy and worked well, laundry detergent was supplied, as was washing up liquid and a sponge. - Staff was generous with the supplies when you request more - Room had obviously been renovated recently, nice blue theme added a nice seaside vibe. Cons: - It is a further walk away from the beach than we thought, and the oceanfront rooms do have quiet a distant view, some of which are obstructed by trees. - Decent amount of noise overnight, especially in the inner bedroom, limited sleep on several of the nights. - Our biggest complaint was that there were two days of construction/maintenance outside preventing our use of the outdoors/balcony, without any warning or notice provided, which considerably impacted our holidays and plans. Notice was provided about overnight construction the night before, which was considerably noisy when it did happen. - Even though this is billed as a resort, the activities are rather basic and mostly geared towards children. There is a pool with a restaurant/bar, but the prices are hefty. - Some surfaces were very sticky, including the hangers. - Staircases are dark (i.e. low light) and painted in a dark colour, which makes it difficult to see the steps - If you go to the timeshare presentation, +++ pushy with some inaccurate/nicely "pitched" information provided. I was surprised that I knew more about Marriott Vacation Clubs than some of the people giving the presentation (or, they chose not to answer our questions accurately). In any case, don't fall for the urgency/pitch, there is a reason they aren't giving you time to think it over -- read the reviews of the Marriott timeshare points programme online. - Overall, this hotel is not worth the steep price we paid, which actually goes up in the summer. It was "average", but we did not pay an average price. Location is okay/nice, and an attempt is made at that activities, but for that price one would expect more. And the construction and noise were not made known to us beforehand, but significantly impacted our experience.

My family had a great stay at the Ocean Grande. The villa was very spacious with two bedrooms, a large living area, kitchen and dining area with a nice size outdoor deck. The beach view and interior garden area views were very nice. The property was in very good condition. We will be back.

Great location friendly staff. Great amenities

An excellent resort all around. Thank you for having so many trees and shrubs around the property. I am sure that they add significant amounts of labor cleaning up leaves, but they give the resort a tropical feel. Also thank you for being smoke free and pet free. Just a beautiful resort!

This place was awesome & beautiful. Everything was perfect, my family felt happy safe and secure. I highly recommend it and wish I would have been able to stay for even longer.

Great hotel

Short trip but we loved the property. Everything was neat and orderly. Family enjoyed all that was offered. Will stay again for sure.

Love the room, especially the kitchen.

The elevator was very noisy. I can hear it when trying to sleep.

We are owners and Platinum Bonvoy Members and are very loyal to the Marriott brand. It has been a while since we visited Hilton Head and lodged at Marriott's Grande Ocean. It was always a hassle to get a room with somewhat of a decent view. But, decided to give it another chance, and I am so glad I did. We initially planned to visit for one week but we enjoyed ourselves so much that we added another week's stay. This hotel is beautiful, well-managed and a delight to visit. Ms. Gabrielle Cole, Guest Service Agent contributed to the best stay ever in Hilton Head. She was very kind and helpful and helped to make our additional week stress free. We are planning our next visit here and will bring family the next time. Kudos to Ms. Cole and Marriott's Grande Ocean for providing a wonderful stay!!!!!!!!
