Garner Hotel Chesterfield North by IHG

Apart from being next to and below very noisy people, we were at the end next to the stairs and doors, it was a nice place great staff. Price was very good for what we had. Room was spotless, well stocked with towels, soaps. Bed was comfortable, can’t go wrong. Good location for visiting the peaks

Fantastic from the moment we arrived

We booked an accessible room as my husband has a disability. Even though the room was very nice, it would have been nice to have the usual disabled facilities in the bathroom such as grab bars, raised toilet seat and a wetroom level floor shower. It also didn't have an emeegrncy cord. You had to request a shower mat but it would have been more beneficial to have a slip free shower tray and more grab bars in the shower. Unfortunately my husband was not able to have a shower as he was too nervous. Overall though, an excellent, comfortable stay with good facilities.

A really weird hotel this. The layout is a little bizarre and so it took a while to get used to. Reception was friendly and easy, but I had trouble accessing the rooms due to the rubbish, outdated, painful swipe card system. If the card is half a second too long or too short in the door it just won't open. To access stairs, you have to walk past a huge bunch of rooms, as the only staircases are the fire exits at the ends of the building. One and only lift is slow and can barely fit three people. But the rooms are decent enough, the bed comfy and shower good. Overall if the price is right I'd stay again but would probably be more interested in trying something else.

Sadly my stay was terrible, this hotel is in desperate need of full refurbishment. Everything is broken and falling apart, the doors, the windows, the decor. It’s also not very clean at all for example around the light switch there was think dirt that could be scraped off. The bed was filthy and I hate to think of the germs in the cracked tiles that you could cut your feet on at the shower entry.

A quiet stay. Large basic rooms. Parking free. Mattress was a little hard although thats subjective. We found a chip from someones meal on the floor near the radiator otherwise the room was clean. The radiator is old style and a puzzle to work out. Staff were helpful. Overall 4 out of 5 stars.
