"Not a great hotel"

Rooms are small — you can’t walk around the bed without getting blown back by the box-in-window air conditioner, which roars quite loudly! The bathroom was not super clean. Breakfast was pretty good (except for the weak coffee), but the hallways smelled like bacon every morning. I left 2 nights into my stay and moved to the nearby Marriott which turned out to be a similar price. Would not recommend.

"Staycation"

Decided to give Vive a try being a local I have a handful of choices for Kamaaina rates and this was my first time at Vive. I loved the ease of valet parking with the friendly and helpful attendants. The breakfasts were an excellent addition being that you often want to get straight out onto your adventures for the day without thinking about stopping some place for a musubi or waiting in line for a coffee, this alleviated all of that and was quite tasty. The lobby can fill up fast though so be open to making friends with strangers or waiting your turn for a seat. I also appreciated the beach gear rental, being a local I do own my stuff but not having to pack it or think about it made my stay so smooth and carefree. The location could not be better, you are in the heart of Waikiki, everything is in walking distance and bus service is extremely close as well. Overall a great stay for a great price. Will recommend and stay again in the future.
