Baltimore Marriott Waterfront

Went here for a business trip, hotel had good conference facility. Rooms are split, what i mean for lower floors you need to take elevator set A and upper floors set B. If you in the wrong part of the hotel visiting the lounge is an adventure in elevators. Lounge is ok, no free beer though (that was a 1st). Staff are efficient when it was busy which was good. Location is what it is, cant move the hotel. There is Whole foods near by and some good local restaurants dotted around. The hotel restaurant was ok, only issue is cold air would rush through the main doors and into the restaurant meaning you needed a nice warm jacket. Really didnt get much time to explore anywhere else in meetings 10hrs a day. Hot water was out for 2 days, however where this hotel stood out was when I made mention this on checkout basically gave me one night free, no questions asked, didnt even ask for it, now thats what I call customer first (Ok my employed save but still). The guy who checked me out shows how a good hotel can be. Room was nice and updated, very nice.

This hotel has lost its charm. Once upon a time it was all the best hotels to stay when I used to visit Baltimore. Today it has become a self service hotel. the parking is subcontracted out, if you want laundry done you need o carry it down to the bell desk and pick it up from there yourself, restaurant service is so so. Basically you are paying 3-5 star rates for a Marriott Courtyard compared experience. I have stayed in both several times and today would probably choose courtyard over the waterfront. It’s so sad as I had really liked the property when I started staying here several years ago- Which was pre-Covid times. Even the staff were quite un-aware of many things. It was easier to extend one’s stay online rather than the reception as they could not do it ??
