"Highly recommend, just a couple suggestions!"

8.0

The only reason I am not rating our visit as excellent is that being in the front corner room, there are a lot of windows therefore, a lot of street light coming in, we didn’t mind the street noise, we expected that having chosen the one room with a small kitchen, located in the front corner, however, some black out curtains would be helpful to block out the light coming in from the street. Also, the window above the door lets in a lot of the hallway lighting. Unsure how you could rectify that, other than maybe more lamps utilized at night vs ceiling lighting in the hall, installing a small curtain to cover that window or just covering it permanently, there is plenty of natural light coming in. In our opinion, it was just too bright in there for sleeping, maybe others wouldn’t be bothered by that. Some Kleenex on the nightstands, paper towel, and a kitchen towel would also be nice. With all of that said, the room was obviously old which we were fine with, they’ve done a really good job fixing up the rooms, ours was really cute and the bed was really comfortable. And they leave you some snacks and coffee…..we were in Room 1. Highly recommended !!

"Unique inn experience"

10.0

To be clear, this is an actual INN, not just a hotel called an inn. We loved it! Very clean with a warm, old-time, welcome feeling. The owners are upfront about the parts of the inn that are tough to upgrade, like slightly hard water. No big deal. A large four-poster bed with comfy mattress and pillows, coffee and snacks... it was a really nice night. We'd come back!

No staff on site. $250 security deposit is charged seperately, had to fill out paperwork with cc info in advance of arrival. Hotel is run down and in need of updating. Lighting is awful. Trying to see numbers on the lockbox to retrieve our room key was almost impossible. It was okay but for the price point I’d stay elsewhere. Windows on 3rd floor always open (what is getting in?).

"Nicely renovated room in what appears to be an otherwise under-construction property."

6.0

This is an old, multi-story hotel with what looks like many rooms over several floors, but only three on the second floor are renovated. The suite had a very comfy bed and kitchen with fridge, microwave, coffee-maker. Nicely renovated bathroom . New flat-screen TV, with streaming services and free Netflix. Sadly, looks like renovations on the rest of the building have stalled, so outside of one floor, everything is either under construction or in disrepair. The staff was very attentive -- via text. No one was on-site. In fact,I never saw another person, staff or guest, during the two nights I stayed there. Entry is via key-code for front door and to the room. The downstairs cafe and restaurant has signage saying it is open -- but it's not, which was disappointing. Comfortable stay, but as a solo traveler, I was not entirely comfortable with being so isolated.

The property is still being renovated. There are no staff on site. They have plumbing problems that need to be resolved before they have guests there.

"Really bad, terrible luck "

2.0

The door was locked, I never received instructions for my stay in my email but the day of me supposed to have stayed there I got an email with the Wi-Fi password. I get that it may have just been terrible luck but I didn’t even get to stay in the hotel I paid for. Also tried to call the place at check in time all the way until 4 something and no one answered

"Wait for the real renovations"

4.0

We had an event in nearby Saline on a Saturday afternoon and decided to spend the night in the general area instead of heading back home. We had passed by the Clinton Inn many times in the past and were curious about it. We read the descriptions and limited reviews online and decided it would be nice to stay in one of their recently renovated rooms. What could go wrong? Well.... It took quite a while to check in. We waited in the less than inviting check in area under the stairs (picture included). Eventually somebody came down the stairs from the second floor to check us in. They were wearing a knit hat and a winter coat. I thought it odd, but later realized they probably had to wear that to stay warm. The building has steam heat, but the radiators we touched on the second floor where we stayed remained cold throughout our visit. We eventually found an electric heater in the closet and used that to keep the room warm (pic included). The king size bed was clearly relatively new as was the large screen TV on the wall. Both of those were the highlights of the renovation as far as we were concerned (more likely the only things that had been updated). You can look at our pictures to see some of the other highlights of our stay. I did not include any pictures of the shower that still had goodies left behind after the previous occupants checked out. And there was no way to show exactly how nasty tasting the water was. Having grown up on well water, I have no issues with most water sources, but this was truly bad. We had breakfast in the attached restaurant and I made sure to taste the water with the meal. It was just fine. Either they serve bottled water or there is some greater issue in the hotel section of the complex. Overall, the Clinton Inn has a lot of promise. At the moment, it is a long way from becoming that go to quaint location.

"Beautiful Historic Hotel"

10.0

We enjoyed our stay at this historic hotel. If you love historic homes, this is a must-see. Our room was beautiful and spacious. The coffee (from The Coffee House downstairs) was delicious! We understand the new owners have plans to continue renovating. Can't wait to see the updates when we return!
