Mercure Catania Excelsior

Elevators were slow or damaged, very noisy room, poor buffet breakfast there were people slipping outside de hotel door, will not recommend it

I just can’t believe this is a 4* hotel. It’s like from the same period of Vittorio Emmanuelle. Absolutely outdated and old. Smells terrible, more than 100€ for that? It’s unbelievable. If you are from America/South America, this is not a 4* maybe 2* with a “decent” lobby and that’s it. Worth to mention that I asked why the AC was not working in the room and they said is not season for the AC, even when the 20 degrees (I feels hot). Not even a fan was provided

Unhelpful front desk staff, room very dirty

Visited this wonderful city for a day to watch Rugby international.This Hotel was so grand that I thought because of the price it was a mistake but it was great in a fantastic location.Old style hotel but modified that the shuttle bus to the airport stops outside.Would definitely recommend to anyone

being a guest many times I can say that the Hotel and the staff are the best in Catania. It's always a pleasure to come back and, in the spring, summer the outdoor breakfast area is absolutely fantastic. I have been in other hotels in Catania and the Mercure deserves plenty of recognition for its staff and ambiance that can be defined as "old world". Looking forward to come back hopefully for longer periods....

Lovely grand hotel opposite central law court with its own Alibus stop for an easy and cheap transfer from the airport. About a mile's gentle walk from the Piazza Duomo. Well appointed comfortable room with excellent shower. Breakfast fair. Reception staff very helpful, housekeeping could have been better.

Great buffet breakfast in a stately dining room. The room was large and well maintained though dated. Bathroom has been updated and plenty of counter space. Great location in the nicer part of Catania. There was an amazing farmers market in the parking lot/square right in front of the hotel Sunday morning. Great for people watching even if you didn't buy produce, honey, cheese, meat, olive oil, and more! The only downside -- there is apparently a mosquitos problem which required the windows be kept closed. I was there on a beautiful evening and was sorry to have the old air conditioning running all night.
