Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Danbury - I-84 by IHG

The place is great and lovely accomodations. However, I had to leave one day early because my back was in pain and the beds were not good for my back. (Not the fault of the hotel....my problem.) But I couldn't a credit for the 1 day because we booked it through Expedia.

Hotel seems to have gone through a recent "lipstick on a pig" kind of renovation. There were periods especially in the evenings when the elevator and the hallway had a horrible musty smell. Customer service was non-existent. The front desk staff had a very defensive kind of attitude and posture. As soon as we approached them (even when just checking in) they had a rude attitude and facial expression (forget about the smiley welcoming attitude you'd expect in the hospitality business). There were two ladies at the front desk. The younger one was a new trainee who had the basics of human interpersonal communications skills like a little smile, but the older one who was supposed to be her manager (the trainer) was so rude and standoff"ish" from the get-go. The only saving grace was the breakfast spread which wasn't extravagant but better than just toast and muffins.

Check in staff was great. Their little snack store had everything from potato chips to frozen dinners which was much appreciated. The room was modern and clean and well appointed. But the thing that really said apart, oddly enough was the breakfast. Top quality, food, drinks, coffee. I just had a toasted bagel with cream cheese, but it was real Philadelphia cream cheese and there was lots of it and the bagel was very good. All the other food looked good as well. I actually looked for a Holiday Inn express for my next hotel need because of the experience I had here.

We had to move from room 209 the key wouldn't work we tried 3 different sets of cards. Went into 207 nice room just need WD40 on bathroom hinges very squeaky kept waking up when someone had to use the bathroom. Other than that it was great! Thank you

We were asked at check-in for a room preference, taking into consideration quiet and comfort. After a long drive we appreciated being greeted by a smiling, friendly employee.

Awesome, as usual, stayed there 10 years ago!

Everything went as expected.

Ticks all the boxes for an overnight road trip stop and would be ideal for a business stay in the area. Location is convenient and quiet. Rooms are freshly renovated. Everything was clean and comfortable during our stay. Staff was welcoming and efficient. Bean to cup coffee makers in the lobby provided 24-hour access to life's elixir. Numerous dining options in walking distance or a quick drive. In house complimentary breakfast provided many choices and staff worked hard to resupply as necessary.
