Hotel Saint Clair - Magnificent Mile

The only thing was the location, but there are a lot of other hotels which are in this location.

It had nothing to do with a 4 star hotel! It can be a 2 star... very old, tiny rooms, no closet, no Iron, no desk, no chairs to sit, none of the nightstands outlet would work, tiny bathroom and no where to put your bathroom stuff on, not even a bottle of water, no fridge, .....even when I asked the lobby reception for a cup to get some ice from the 2nd floor machine, the guy was so rood to give a cup and said you have cups in your room!!!! we had a room with 2 queen beds. just imagine there was no room to put the carry-ons or anything else. there was not even 2 feet around the beds to walk and I hit my toes a few times to the bed and couldn't walk after that. It's so sad to trick us with a 4 star hotel and when you get there you can't see anything like what you expected. I never been to a hotel like this. Because of our flight cancellation we booked 2 more 4 star hotels and they were soooo much better that we could say they were like a 6 star!

The location was great. It was walking distance to everything I wanted to see and had some convenient good restaurants etc. nearby. The staff was also nice. My flight was delayed by several hours because of storms around Chicago and I was worried they would cancel my room because I wasn't guaranteed to get in before midnight. But the front desk pre-checked me in over the phone to make sure it was easy to get to my room and go to sleep once I got in.

I have to say, overall, for the cost of the room, I was very disappointed. The room itself felt more like a Motel 6 than a nice downtown hotel (a room that costs almost $300 dollars a night, needs to be much nicer). The quality just didn't match the high price of the room. It was clean but also felt outdated with the veneer of being updated. They used cotton top sheets and duvet and pillow cases, but then used a poly blend bottom sheet that moved all over the bed and stuck to your skin and came partially off the mattress during the night. The toilet was cracked. Only the most expensive rooms came with mini-fridges, and the pics they have on their website for the breakfast and food and coffee in the lobby, didn't exist. The only food available was in the restaurant. The website photos were misleading. Worst part was the ancient AC wall unit in the room. It was so hot and humid (over 90+ degrees with almost 100% humidity) that AC was necessary. When I arrived, the AC was not on (and this was around 11pm at night) and it was stifling in the room (around 80 degrees). Once on, the AC was so loud that you couldn't hear the TV, it was so loud it made it impossible to get a good night's sleep. I eventually had to turn it off around 3am to try and get some sleep but then the room temp went up to around 75 degrees. Lastly, I put the Do Not Disturb sign on my door because I desperately needed to sleep in after such an exhausting travel day, but the door had a huge gap between it and the floor and let in both a ridiculous amount of light and noise into the room early in the morning from the hallway. Hotel staff who were there for cleaning and morning work were right outside my door early in the morning (around 7am) and were talking full volume and using walkie-talkies directly outside my room and it was so loud there was no way to sleep in. They also had mixed up information on check-out. The check-out time listed in the room was 12pm.

The location was very convenient to tourist attractions and shops. The bed and shower were the best thing that this place can offer.

The parking is valet only and very pricey. The staff was not friendly. The lobby is small and congested and the pizza stand that takes up all the space stinks. The auto door doesn't work and the staff does not offer to help you with the door when you are pushing a luggage cart or the lady with a wheelchair. The door not opening automatically is an ADA concern. The halls and doorways are so narrow the cart barely fit. There are very few amenities including remotes for the TV. The halls are old and beat down. The carpet is nasty and walls are patched up. The halls stink.

Everything about this hotel was amazing. Friendly staff, easy check in, clean rooms, great location.
