DoubleTree by Hilton Woking

This whole hotel was amazing, very close to a shopping centre and very close to Taco Bell which my daughter was happy about. The staff would bend over backwards to help and they were all extremely friendly, the hotel was exceptionally clean. The breakfast was amazing, full English, a variety of meats and cheeses along with a variety of fruit. Plenty of parking also. Will definitely stay here again as it was also only 15 minutes away from Thorpe Park.

The hotel itself is modern, clean and well presented, with comfortable rooms and good quality fixtures and fittings throughout. The location was convenient for our needs and, on the surface, it has everything you would expect from a branded hotel. Unfortunately, what let the stay down for us was the level of customer service. We stayed on a busy Saturday and fully appreciate that hospitality can be demanding, especially during peak periods. However, basic courtesy and a welcoming attitude should remain a priority regardless of how busy things are. Our arrival didn’t get off to the best start, with the first member of the reception team coming across as unfriendly and unwelcoming. Thankfully, a second member of staff, who I believe may have been a supervisor, stepped in and handled things much better, helping to recover the situation. Sadly, the same lack of warmth was evident when we checked out. I simply asked for directions to the car park from reception and was met with a rather abrupt response of “over there, turn left at the lift”. The tone made me feel as though I was asking an obvious question rather than seeking assistance as a guest. There was no “thank you for staying”, “hope you enjoyed your stay” or even a simple goodbye. It’s a shame because the hotel itself has plenty going for it. However, hospitality is about more than just rooms and facilities. The little things matter. A smile, a please, a thank you and a friendly farewell can leave a lasting positive impression. Unfortunately, those basics were missing during our stay. Would I stay again? Possibly, because the hotel itself is perfectly pleasant. However, I do hope the customer service experience improves, as it currently falls short of what I would expect from a Hilton branded property.

You can never go wrong with Hilton. You know exactly what you are going to get. Service at reception and breakfast definitely worth mentioning.
