Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Amarillo

Helpful and friendly staff! Clean hotel with a good breakfast and near restaurants and shopping. Dog friendly bar t wish there was a bit more grassy areas for the dogs. The rocks in the planter areas is easy maintenance for the property but not great for the dogs.

4 room changes. Rooms with connecting rooms and doors between them have holes above the locks the size of pencils. Either room can open their connecting door and look into the connecting room with a clear view of the bathroom and the beds. The employee at the front desk was unconcerned even when I mentioned that with a wire hanger, someone could possibly reach through the hole and unlock the lock of the connecting room. I asked for a manager and was told no manager on site. I was moved first to two different rooms, both were rooms with connecting doors and both had the same problem with the drilled holes through the connecting doors. Again, the employee at the front desk didn't seem to think this was a problem. She said she could give me some tape to cover the hole. The rooms also had an unusual smell, like very dirty laundry or someone who hadn't bathed in a while. I asked to move to a room with no connecting room. This room appeared as though the swinging door latch had been bent and was loose. It had the same smell, only worse than mentioned above. Again I asked to check out another room. Again, it had the same smell. The smell was not faint. I decided to check out and did not stay the night at Microtel by Wyndham. But, that is just how much I was concerned with staying at Microtel. I consider their connecting rooms to be an issue of public safety. As for the smell, I don't know the issue and have never had this experience in all of my travels.

Called ahead to see if we could get a late check out since we were checking in at 3am. Diane informed us no way thay we could, was very rude. Got there and Kimberly checked us in and gave us a late check out of 12pm. Kin was super nice. Even though the motel is less than a year old the room stunk, the hallways and elecator also stunk. Hot water nd water pressure was no existent, and the sink is made for a 6 foor tall person. Also fabric softener or scented detergent in the sheets, in which I am highly allergic to, this is rarely ever an issue at Wyndham properties so I was a bit suprised. Luckily I carry my own bedding with me due to the possibility of this happening.

Property is a little older than i thought but it was clean and beds comfortable

Bed comfort was not that good. Air conditioner didn't work as well as it should. Humidity in the room was very noticeable. But seemed okay in the rest of the facility. The staff was great!
