My favorite place to stay in all of Cotswolds! Very cool interior decor. Grand piano, Dyson hair dryer and room fan! Nespresso! Perfect!

The building itself is impressive and hotel service is overall friendly. But we booked as one adult one child, however additional charges are added for the child, which is not good. Also we found three spider webs in the room and we got reply “sorry” only…

"Beautiful quintessentially Cotswold hotel"

10.0

This is such a lovely 'quintessentially Cotswold' hotel - it's so pretty and of course in a gorgeous location. I received a very warm welcome and help with my bags. My room (Charlotte) was at the top of the hotel - it was beautifully appointed and had wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. There is no airconditioning in this listed building - but I appreciated the large fan in my room. My only complaint is that for a hotel of this calibre I would have expected a small fridge in the room - there was a notice to say that I could order fresh milk and it would be delivered but I didn't want to inconvenience staff on a baking hot day on the second floor every time I wanted a cup of tea! A fridge would also mean that I had access to a plentiful supply of cold water - much needed. I loved the L'Occitane products in the bathroom - my favourite and very luxurious. Something to note is that the restaurant isn't open early in the week so if I had wanted to eat I would have had to go elsewhere. The staff were all really helpful throughout my stay - thank you everyone.

The ideal Cotswold country house hotel. Good service and a reasonably sized room. The food is very expensive for what is presented, sadly very limited dairy free options.

Lovely hotel and beautiful grounds, but the staff were unhelpful when it came to sorting things out. The standard response to issues was simply 'it’s broken' – as if that was the end of the conversation. Everything seemed to be a ‘no can do’ situation, which was disappointing.

"Spoilt by breakfasts"

8.0

The location is beautiful, of course, and the hotel is well appointed . We were very happy with our room. We had group dinners twice here and they were excellent - lovely food and good service. However, the breakfasts were a disaster. We were there with a group on a choral festival, so we all needed to be out at the same time. Day 1 - they tried to do full service breakfast, with one young girl (there was an older lady who barely appeared). From day 2 they provided a buffet. None of us were greeted or offered tea/coffee on arrival by the older lady who was now in charge. She did eventually take cooked breakfast orders and offer tea/coffee. I think it was day 3 that we had to be out earlier and they put two very capable waiters on duty - they just about coped (even offering tea and coffee on arrival!!!), but probably needed a third waiter. Then it was back to the day 2 format. Poor.

"A 4* hotel let down by 3* service due to inadequate service levels"

6.0

Disappointment First impressions were very positive, well maintained grounds, plenty of parking. Checked into our room in an annex separated from the main house where our friends were staying but phone did not work which necisitated several trips back to reception to resolve the issue, then get milk (every day) then to get a spoon, the flickering light in the bathroom, all signs of casual room service. With two key staff on holiday and possibly hospitality having to cut back on staffing levels, this was not the service consistent with a 4* hotel but worse was to come. The single reception staff member was struggling with incoming clients and resolving check out issues, so again we had to traipse back (I am disabled) to the main house to ask why two fixed price menus (£150) and 2 glasses of wine (28) was billed at £252 plus a spurious £75? Attempts to make adjustments rather than reprinting a new bill didn't help. To cap it off, we were asked to deposit £600 against future expenses in case we absconded. What sort of clients stay here? Why was this necessary when the hotel already has our card details. Inevitably the refund is not immediate of course. Having stayed in hotels in over 600 cities in 137 countries, this was one of my most memorable stays.

"Disappointing Afternoon Tea"

4.0

Waited 40 minutes for our ‘afternoon tea’ by that time we had drunk the only cup of coffee offered. Had to go and find overworked staff for our champagne which was not poored in front of us and tasted like warm supermarket Prosecco. Over cooked scones and tiny portions of jam & cream. Husband’s birthday so didn’t complain otherwise it would have spoiled his day. Wouldn’t go again. Shame as previously stayed here and it was once lovely. Also on a beautiful day why have only 3 parasols up on tables on such a nice terrace forcing everyone to sit inside. Get some parasols from the pub there was loads of them in their garden.

For the cost involved expected more . Cleanliness poor room not hoovered each day. Breakfast on last day was a shambles ie 20 min wait for tea / coffee , wrong order presented , out of porridge and muesli 2 days running and 40 min wait for toast .It is a beautiful 17th century Manor House but not themed appropriately. Glass and chrome furniture out of character .
