Room so small we didnt stay

Let’s get one thing right, the location and front desk service is fantastic. What could use some improvement is the bedding, sound proofing, elevator, and room decor. Our bed was extremely soft and well past its useful age. The pillows were harder and flatter than normal. If you love a simple decor, you will be right at home as there wasn’t a wall hanging in the room, except the fire alarm map. We could hear enough of our neighbors evening and morning rituals to feel like involuntary voyeurs. Lastly, the elevator is so small it can’t fit two people and their roller boards. Our tour group came up with a plan where one of us would take the two roller boards and the other would use the stairs.

The room was a good size and quiet with a comfortable superking size bed

We paid £753 for two nights at the Inverness Palace as part of a special excursion weekend. We consider this to be appalling value for money. The room was in a separate building to the main hotel, which meant walking outside to get to breakfast. The pillows were too thin, the carpet near the bed was stained red and instead of a proper wardrobe there was hanging space and IKEA like shelving redolent of a Travelodge. There were no guest toiletries or minibar, not even any complimentary water and no air conditioning. The fan in the bathroom didn’t work, the shower didn’t drain properly and the sink tap was stiff. Our “view” was of the bins at the back of the hotel – see picture. Light from the corridor was visible around the entire door at all times. The room was not worth half the price we paid for it and we feel completely ripped off. Breakfast, for which we had to pay extra, was equally bad. A poor choice of fruit items, many of which were not ripe. The “hot food” was anything but: lukewarm items hanging around for far too long so they were tasteless and either dried out – bacon, sausages – or swimming in liquid – scrambled egg, tomatoes. The staff we encountered were complacent and uninterested.

Beautiful location and the building and room were lovely. It missed the mark a bit on finer details.

The little things weren’t present or were a bit shabby. The restaurant smelled strongly of fish at all times. The staff seemed very unhappy with the exception of the massage therapist- she was very pleasant.
