Sleeping Bear Hotels Dorchester

I arrived at approximately 19.00 pm. At the rear door I rang the entry bell repeatedly and was answered eventually by a person who sounded very put out at being disturbed. He opened the door when I said I had a room booked, so I was given entry to the hotel with no confirmation of who I was, (With the recent Travlelodge incedent I found this disturbing) he went on to say there were no staff on duty and I would have to book myself in at a console in the lounge; as if I knew where the lounge was. I then went through an agonising "Automated" booking procedure, enentually succeeding in producing a room card. I had noted another console in the empty reception area and on checking found it to be a book your parking machine. Of course it meant downloading a random parking app which I do not want and was charged £11.19 for parking at the back of the hotel, this of course meant I had to add bank card details a thing I do try to avoid. At the bottom of the stairs was an out of order vending machine, top news for me who could have done with a snack. The actual building was fine, the room was clean and the bed reasonable. As there is no food available in the hotel I had to go out. On return at the front of the hotel which was had scaffolding up I was unable to use the "Facial recognition system" to get in because it was partially obsured by said scaffolding, I eventually found a card reader again obscured by the scaffolding. I could see the wi-fi on my laptop but nopassword was to be found and nobody to ask. Now some may find this to be a good thing but I found the entire process awfull I will never stay there again, to me this is a cost cutting exercise no staff to pay no food and drink to buy, for me staing in a hotel should be a welcoming pleasant thing to do, this was not.

Perfect location, really friendly staff, room was clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable night. Parking on site if you pre book before you arrive. There is a place you can sit with plates and cutlery and eat if you want to bring food back with you. There is also a drinks station so you can make a coffee and sit in the lounge.

No human check in and out. Prefer to see humans than check in stations.

Location was good within an easy walk to Restaurants, we used the parking at the rear of the Hotel which was £10 for the night. Large rooms with also a large comfortable bed.
