Comfort Inn Detroit - Troy

Clean, well-kept, good parking, and good location. Quiet rooms that allow you to set your temperature much more easily than most these days. Breakfast was ok, just kinda basic. My issue was not with any of this; it was people, communication, and how something so crazy could occur.

After staying one night, I extended my stay at the front desk the next morning after finding out a friend of mine was in a local hospital. They reset my key cards for Room 200, re-ran my credit card, and emailed me a receipt. I was assured I was good to go, grabbed my purse and laptop from the room, and left for the day, leaving the rest of my stuff behind. I was away from the hotel all day and returned very late, around 10:30 PM. I let myself into the room and saw that it had been cleaned while I was gone, then went into the bathroom, where I realized my personal effects were missing. I walked back into the bedroom and realized everything else was gone as well. Housekeeping had not just freshened up the room; they had emptied it. I went down to the front desk and asked the very young night clerk where my stuff was, and gave him a rundown of what was missing. When I said "cell phone charger," he went into the office off the front desk, came back with mine, and told me that was the only thing turned in. Which is when I started crying and yelling. He called someone on the phone and told me again I had left nothing in my room, and I was like, I paid for the room, my key cards work, I am not losing my mind, I have no clothes now, and where is the rest of my stuff? I went upstairs and called the Comfort Inn help line, who tried to calm me but said they could not help until I was checked out from my stay, as the hotel was supposed to have a chance to fix it. While I was on the phone with the help line, the young desk clerk came up and knocked again to tell me he had called the day people, who insisted that nothing was left in the room. I told him to watch the security tape. Which is when I asked him where the hotel's dumpster was, because I was going to go find my stuff. He said he would go look in the dumpster.

Lisa the manager was so accommodating! We had a horrible experience at a nearby hotel on our 11 year anniversary, and she went above and beyond to make us comfortable. It was a wonderful, simple, cozy room. I would definitely recommend it.
