Super 8 by Wyndham McHenry/Fox Lake Area

The room was great, we had three queen beds but only two chairs at the small table, and tiniest coffee machine with one packet of coffee available. but the breakfast they did have was almost nonexistant and staff just said “sometimes that happens”. Coffee machine was broken- spit out grounds and didnt have water available, one sugary cereal option, microwave was ancient, toaster was over tosting/set on high for friends, they were fully stocked on yogurt and at least two types of oatmeal. They had a waffle machine that did work. Property was unsettling due to the amount of cop cars hanging out throughout the parking lot by the time we got back from finding dinner.

This is the worst hotel ever. Don’t book here. It was dirty and stinky. Plastic mattress covers from when you were a child (in case you piss the bed) that grandma had on a rollaway when you stayed with her. Our tv did not work and our second room had no air conditioning on a 90 degree day. Also this hotel must do subsidized housing, lots of rando people around. Elevator does not work either.

One of the worst experiences so far, I found the TV on and signs of someone sitting at the corner of the bed, which wasn't properly cleaned, I was too tired to make a claim, but I won't go back never again.

Good property

Had to always ask for towels.No kleenex, gave us toilet paper rolls for kleenex. Had to ask to get towels, then never wash clothes or cups.Coffee was instant and gross. Homeless guy staying there was blowing on the waffle maker to get crumbs out, and never left us alone.We stayed 10 days, and each time we came out of our room,he wanted to know what we were doing and where we were going, etc.the owner moved the bread etc. with bare hands.Not much to eat.Empty milk carton was sitting on counter for 2 days.They told us we had to ask if we wanted anything done to our room.Never had to do that anywhere else.Cleaning came in once a day in other motels.Coffee pot had mold in the place where you put the coffee.Rinsed it out and black chunks fell out.Fridge didn't work, ask for help,he said don't unplug it.Am I 2, I know it won't work if you unplug it.It was plugged in, but didn't work.When we got there, TV didn't work, so he messed around in back and got it working.Carpet is so dirty that when my husband took a shower after me,the water in bottom of tub was muddy from his feet.Gave us internet password,but only worked by the front desk,not our room.We stayed here off and on in years past and never was it this bad.Would have checked out, but no where else was available for our 10 day stay.Do I get Wyndham points by booking through you? When I tryed to make reservations,Super 8 desk said they can't help me. Also, had a hard time understanding there accent.

The staff was wonderful. Very responsive and passed information from shift to shift.

I liked the proximity to where I was going. What I didn’t like the was the smell, and the coffee wasn’t even drinkable.

Overall it was not bad. Some of the things in the rooms needed to be fixed, and the smell in one of the locations could have been better. Also had to turn the air conditioner down pretty low to get the room comfortable.
