Das Carls Hotel

The beds were comfortable.

I am a frequent traveller and this is why I can confidently say that this was by far the worst 4 star hotel I have ever stayed at and I am seriously wondering how this hotel is able to keep a four star rating. The hotel is so bad that I do not even know where to start. From dozens of unsolicited spammy emails and text massages (that I blocked) in advance of my stay trying to convince me to do a "do it yourself check-in" over trash being left on the armchair by the chamber maid and a rude and aggressive attitude by staff when we asked that the trash, together with used coffee cups from the day before the chambermaid had left in the room should be removed. I am honestly shocked at the attitude of the staff: "but all the cleaners have gone already" was the reaction to us asking for the trash bag to be picked up and then the reception lady came up to our room aggressively confronting us for having asked that the trash be picked up. Likewise I was told I could "come pick them up" when I asked for a pair of hotel slippers (I normally expect to be available in-room at a four star hotel) on my first night. The breakfast was probably the best feature of this hotel, however, on Sunday there was no bread left an hour before closing and we were told that they "had to heat up the bread rolls" - which, yes, they were heated up from the day before or something because they certainly weren't fresh when they arrived close to closing time. As to the location: while it is very central - another reason I had chosen this hotel - the adjacent Carlsplatz is ripe with drunks and junkies at night and a serious police presence, which did not make me feel good and raised concerns about the lack of checks of people entering the hotel (due to staff shortage) as well as a lack of a card-lock on the elevator that would only allow guests to use it. All in all, I could not wait to check out. It was an unfortunately a terrible stay.

Die Lage ist überragend! Wir sind Düsseldorfer,die aus familiären Gründen nach Bad Lippspringe gezogen sind. Da wir aber immer noch einige Ärzte dort besuchen müssen, buchen wir sehr gerne Ihr Hotel.

The location is absolutely perfect. This is the biggest win for them. Also, town parking right next to it. Not aleays free as they have limited space, though... Rooms are nice, rather old but functional. Breakfast is ok, standard. I don't usually have breakfast so I can't say for sure if it'sm enough for a person who enjoys the first meal of the day :)

Pillows - but that is a personal matter.
