American Inn - Pontotoc

We came for a football game at Ole Miss. Most places had sold out except this one. It was ok, not fantastic but did what we needed it to do. Tried to get an extra towel but was not possible per manager. Beds not as soft as I like but not horrible. It was just an ok kind of place.

Not what I expected

Agree with other reviewer: "Average at best". They have made some obvious rennovations recently with new flooring, paint, bedding. However, the shower head was an "Original Shower Massage" that was probably 15-20 years old. Additionally, the phone was dated. Most people don't use the phone in a hotel anymore but I noticed a significant buildup of grime around the edges. Cleanliness: Overall, the room was clean. However, when I had been walking around the room barefoot in the morning and then got in the damp shower, I left black footprints on the tub. Obviously, the floors had not been CLEANED in a long time. They may have been swept but not cleaned. Customer Service: The motel is on a busy road and when I checked in, I asked if we could have a room on the back side or down the one side that is away from the road. The person working the desk just laughed and ignored the request. The parking lot was less than half full so it wasn't a matter of the motel being full. All in all, it wasn't awful but I wouldn't stay here again.

Okay facilities, the room was fairly clean, not from wall to wall, I wouldn't hire whoever the cleaning person is, we checked out early, so waiting on refund to my method of payment, if I get it, was not given any paperwork to indicate refund, if in that area again I will not stay there, staffers definitely not customer friendly ,sorry

This is a motel with limited amenities. If you book, please understand that it’s on a main highway connecting Oxford & Tupelo and noisy traffic. That said, the outside of the property is old but the inside of our room was pleasantly comfortable…clean, some updated decor, comfortable mattress, fresh smell. Definitely useful for what we needed…limited time in our room & convenient to Ole Miss.

Close to family

Hotel was a little out dated ,but was clean. Towels in bathroom good have been a little newer.

I was consulting in an office in Pontotoc and preferred to be close by (as opposed to driving the 20-30 minutes from hotels in neighboring towns.) The American Inn is the only motel in this town, I realized that the entry into the rooms was on the outside, which is not normally preferable for me, but I felt that for one night (actually less than 12 hours) I could be fine with that. I asked for a room on the ground floor on the well-lit front side (street side) of the building (mainly because I felt safer as a female traveling alone on that side) and was able to park my car close to the room. The owner checked me in and was very pleasant and accommodating. The room itself was modest but clean. (I stay in a lot of Hampton Inns so by now a hotel room is a hotel room is a hotel room.) The bed was comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water and good water pressure. A downside was the street noise, but I did ask for that room and was able to use my white noise app to reduce it. The point is, I felt safe here and will return if back in the area.

Room was tidy but not deep cleaned. Beds were hard. Out our window was a brick wall. Cheap furniture/nothing quality.

The best part is the inner court area. Large grass area and shrubbery. Rooms are pleasantly painted as well. None of that dull neutral tan that is so popular.
