The property is beautiful. It’s a historic building with a lot of art in history.

Staff was exceptional. Free parking. Within walking distance of Eastman theater, numerous restaurants, and Planetarium.

The continental breakfast was not impressive.

Old School charm and central location. This hotel is traditional in its aesthetics, and that’s a rare thing (and much appreciated). I even had a sleigh bed! Every room is different.

The hotel, lovely as it is, is trying to punch above its weight but isn’t quite hitting the mark. The room renovation of the hotel is ongoing but even so, the small things aren’t always up to snuff. For example, I had to request hand soap. The only hand soap available was a pump bottle that was heavily scented. Both sinks (bar and bath) needed hardware fixes. The “desk” was more of a side table, because the cutout was too narrow to fit your legs. No electric outlet or USB port is at the desk. No coffee/Keurig machine (even with a kitchenette room, which included a fridge and microwave). They want you to go downstairs for a cup of coffee (and I was there when the one elevator was being fixed and was not usable). Previous touch-up paint jobs were sloppy. My room was due for renovation; yet these things should never happen. The restaurant was good, but the service was not consistent. Many of the staff are young and inexperienced. They’re under new management and need to find their way.

Wow, am I glad that we stayed here! Multiple times throughout our visit my husband and I affirmed: we've found "our" place when we're back to visit Rochester (which we're going to do quite a bit as we plan for a move). Starting around 9 p.m. on the night we were supposed to arrive, we sat in our connecting terminal at JFK and watched as our departure time moved later and later. It was clear that we were going to arrive well after our confirmed check-in time. The Inn had texted prior, confirming our reservation and inviting communication by text if we needed anything, so I let them know that we were still on the way - but would be much later. Got a response back within a few minutes, saying the main entrance would be closed and providing instructions for a late night arrival. The instructions were easy to follow and accurate - so at 2 a.m. in the rain, we weren't walking around looking for a door we couldn't find. The lobby was warm and quiet and inviting. The night desk agent was kind and efficient and were in our room in no time. I don't know if I've ever slept so well. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, the blackout curtains were effective, and the thermostat was consistent and powerful. We didn't wake up until noon. While we missed the continental breakfast (a modest but well appointed station - bagels and muffins, yogurt, cereal and coffee) there was a fresh coffee station in the lobby set up throughout the day, which we appreciated in the cold weather! We quickly learned that this place is under 20-minutes from *everything* - highway, airport, museums, great food, etc. On Halloween evening, we got back to the hotel around 9pm and ordered from the restaurant. Everything was phenomenal - including the drinks from the bar downstairs that we did NOT make plans to visit but will definitely set time aside for on future trips! The neighborhood got a little louder with the festivities, but not by much.

The only think I could even think to suggest would be having instructions and menus for room service in the rooms - we had to do a little hunting/asking around. But the front desk attendant at that hour was kind enough to check with the kitchen to see if they were still serving to rooms, brought us menus, and ordering/delivery was fast and well presented. The food was UNREAL. And the price was surprisingly reasonable!

Comfy spacious room. Friendly and helpful staff. Central location. Reasonable price.
