Red Lion Hotel Boise Downtowner

This hotel offers really poor value for money; when checking in, I couldn't find a front desk staff member for ages. There were also stains on the duvet and bed sheets. I do not recommend staying here!

All ways a great stay

There was nothing to like about the property. The staff tried their best.

The hotel is falling apart and was not clean. The ceiling tiles are missing in multiple places. They didn’t have the room we had reserved 4 months prior when planning the trip. Our door had to be opened by the maintenance guy and we couldn’t leave without leaving someone in the room to let us back in. Beds had hair in them and rooms were not insulated well so you could hear the neighbors snoring all night.

If I could give this hotel zero stars, I would. The condition of this property was extremely disappointing and far below any acceptable standard. The room was filthy, with used tissues left in multiple areas, dirty carpets, and sticky floors that made it clear the space had not been properly cleaned. I booked a double queen (2 beds) and when we arrived we were given a 1 queen room. Thankfully one of our kids decided to not come, so we managed. The pool and hot tub area was also unkept, dirty, and not in working order. Despite the condition, the hostess actually recommended that we use it, which was concerning and unacceptable. The entire property felt run down and neglected. Cleanliness and basic maintenance should be the bare minimum for any hotel stay, and this place failed on both. I would not recommend staying here. What a waste of time and money.

I'd rate my stay here as "ok". For the price I paid, it's a decent hotel. One detail that I wasn't a fan of was the fact that I was assigned a room right next to the elevator shaft. So, I got to hear that all night, and it wasn't quiet. Some positives though were that the breakfast tasted good, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Again, for the price I paid for my stay, it was a good value.
