We liked our stay at Hotel Melodia. Having glanced through some previous reviews I have the following observations; Re vicinity to airport: Any closer and you would have been out on a limb with no venues (decent shops, restraints etc) within walking distance. A better area is Mirorflores but it's so much further away from the airport that it becomes impractical for quick airport transfers. We used this hotel as an overnight stop twice for different flights and it serves it's purpose in that respect. Re the toilet being stuck on continuous flush: they operate a dual flush system and you have to lift the flushing lever back up fully to stop the constant flush mode. We would stay here again on a short term basis, but as other reviewers point out, it's probably not the best choice of hotel for a long term stay. Our rooms were clean and warm with good showers, working TV and phone etc. The staff were polite and helpful.

"Sleazy"

2.0

I'd avoid this hotel if possible. Gave off a sleazy vibe from the moment you walked in the door. It's quite a ride from the airport, has very outdated rooms and is on a major street in the middle of a shopping area. Definitely not worth the price.

"Take the price down about $30/night"

6.0

Although the location of this hotel is not that bad (just a short walk from two malls, and a 10-15 ride from the airport), the price is not worth it. It is located right on a busy street, so a lot of noise and during the hot summer months in Lima, the small fan does not quite do the job of cooling the room. On a positive note, the water is hot.

"Not very good"

4.0

Stayed here for 7 hrs because my flight got cancelled due to hurricane and the airport hotel costa de sol was full and this is the closest available option. Got a room for 52 USD. thought it was a little pricey but I needed my sleep badly. One of the tiniest room I got for 50 bucks... Bed was ok, but bathroom toilet flushed continuously without stopping. Not sure what was going on there... but I slept in peace knowing that I only need to stay there for 7 hours. Probably would not recommend this place to others unless they are stuck at the airport and would pay anything to get a bed.

"This is my home away from home in Lima"

10.0

I have been going to this hotel for 5 years now. Appoximately 5 times per year I travel through Lima. The hotel is only 15 minutes from the airport, and all the taxis know how to get there if you just say "San Miguel, Av. La Marina, Hotel Melodia." The hotel staff and owners treat me an other guests like family. They always remember me and I feel like I am coming to a friend's house. They do not expect tips or other things that would be out of the cultural norm for them. They are extremely trustworthy. The rooms are clean. The food is excellent. The rooms are simple and small, but the beds are comfortable, the room is clean, and there is ample hot water. The hotel is perfect for my business travel, but it could be great for other travel as well. The area is safe enough for families or tour groups. A much fancier area is Miraflores or San Isidro. However, those places are very far away and the hotels there are very expensive. If you are not wanting beach-fancy surroundings and you are wanting close to the airport and shopping in a safe place, this hotel is a great place to stay.

"OK value"

6.0

Was looking for a decent place fairly close to airport since I was merely going to burn some time between a 10pm arrival and 9am flight to Cusco. Initially wasn't going to book this place since their price of $69 for a double seemed a little steep. (Was showing $69 for a double, now showing $65). A hotel booking service offerred me $55/night if I used their $20 taxi service (which I declined - way too steep... typical taxi cost for airport to this locale should be about $10-11 MAX) Circled-back with hotel directly and they agreed to the $55 rate (continental breakfast for two included) Room was decent (spotty wifi signal though), but street-front was noisey the bulk of the night. Good lobby service and decent restaurant service too. OK value overall.

As near to the airport as you can have for a budget hotel. Great if you just need a night not to far from the airport. Very reasonable price.

"Ugh - Not My Favorite"

4.0

I was here for 1 night in August, because I had to spend the evening in Lima while changing planes to go elsewhere. This has the advantage of not being too far from the airport....that's it. It's noisy (you can hear both the street and the drive-through window from the pizza place next door), has no real hot water (none in the sink; lukewarm in the shower), is not heated (yes, I realize that's not unusual for Peru) and a very basic decor and furnishings. My reaction to it was "hostel", not "hotel". I did however appreciate the guy who made us tea toast even though the breakfast buffet wasn't open for another 1/2 hour when we had to leave really early for the airport.

"dont bother here anymore"

2.0

i have stayed at the hotel melodia several times and before it was quite ok the rooms were clean and there was always hot water and the breakfast was a nice choice of a buffet which was all fine, only a room and breakfast but fine, then when i returned there was no longer a buffet you just had to take what they served you but still it was not to bad but now they are cutting corners badly the room was in a state of disrepair and the breakfast had shrunk down to two dry rolls with not enough butter for both ,, this hotel is going backwards so i dont think i will stay again as i felt insulted this time its a shame they had good prospects
