I thought I would like the location but we were given a room with a view of a gravel roof and no scenery so it was not worth the price for the location.

The person checking us in didn’t have us on file and originally told me I didn’t have a reservation. They charged me $50 TWO times for “incidentals just in case” after booking told me I would not be charged anymore, so now I have to resolve that with my bank. The remote didn’t work, the shower was broken, one of the elevators was broken and missing buttons which didn’t seem safe at all. The ice machine on our floor was completely gone with just a literal rusted hole in the ground.

"Good breakfast, bad hotel experience"

The breakfast which I purchased with my stay was good and the dining staff very kind.

Our check in was less than satisfactory. The woman at the desk that evening was in a very bad mood which left me feeling uncomfortable. Our room that I booked and paid fully for via Booking was not in their records so I received a room not facing the marina. I also received less breakfast passes than I paid for. Additionally, we weren't given a good welcome or any kind information about breakfast times, where the room was, or the facilities. We also weren't explained about the $15 parking fee. The most frustrating element was that when I placed a card for incidentals, I was double charged for a very expensive room price. Meaning I had $600-700 for one night off my card in total for several days. Very frustrating. I understand that the staff that evening was alone and the hotel understaffed. But it made for an unpleasant experience on what was meant to be a nice family road trip spot.

I arrived on Friday at about 1:45pm and when I approached the front desk, the girl said if your here to check-in I don’t have any rooms until 3pm. No hello no smile nothing. I said well I did what I thought was a pre-check in on the bonvoy app. She asked if it had a room assigned and I said not that I could see. I said ok, what are my options? She said “I don’t have anything available”. I said ok, but is there a restaurant open? Coffee shop? Bar? Somewhere I can store my luggage. Short answer was no- the restaurant might be open at 5 she said. There is nothing walking distance. So I took my suitcase and plopped myself on the sofa in the lobby right in front of the front desk. I watched others try to check in early and they were received with the same response so the lobby started to fill up. My cousin who was also staying at the hotel arrived shortly after me, room not ready. So we chatted and before we knew it the lobby was empty and it was almost 4pm. Not once did the agent at the front desk offer to pre-check me in so that all she had to do was hand me my keys when the room was ready. So I went to the desk and a gentleman who is a supervisor (forgot his name) checked me in and said something about my room type- I had marina view but one had a patio. I said I’ll take the one without the patio. Again, no hello. No thank you for your patience. Since I had time during my wait, I read the reviews online and I was kicking myself, so I pulled back the comforter on the bed and there was a strand of hair and stains on the sheet (I have pictures). I called front desk from the room and told the gentleman and he said ok he’ll check to see if the other room he offered was available- when he came to the phone it was. No apology- nothing. I went and got my new set of keys for the new room. No apology, not offer for anything to make up for it. I was annoyed that I hadn’t checked the reviews before I booked. On the app it had said I would not receive hsk service during my stay however I received it both nights. You can’t have a dirty hotel and bad service. As I shared my story people told me that Sheratons are no longer what they used to be and honestly it’s because of this property and the lack of hospitality. Front desk agents need better training or management needs to hire better employees. Some empathy goes a very long way. I expected a survey but it’s been a few weeks and never got one. I imagine they opted me out because they knew I was unhappy and did nothing to ensure my satisfaction. Props to the photographer, because the pictures on the website are fantastic. They make the swamp of a marina look glamorous.

"Avoid this place - not customer friendly."

Booked a Marina view room for 4 days, when I arrived I was told NO marina view rooms were available. I was given a 2nd floor room facing a wall - NO view. When I asked to change the room I was told that all their rooms face walls (obviously a lie). The room thermostat was broken and the air conditioner was very noisy; tiny restaurant had a very limited menu. The bartender was also the waiter and server. I left the hotel after 3 days.

"Sisters Escape"

Jeremy did it again. Helpful pre-arrival arrangements, warm welcome upon arrival, recommendations when asks … which resulted in the best breakfast. We had a nice stay. It was good to see Jeremy was still at the hotel.
