Ammergau Lodge

It was very clean and nice and warm. Shared Kitchen is the best.

Particularly helpful and polite. Although I asked almost at the last minute to check out later than 10:00, they did not refuse it.

The room was up to my expectations and the landlords were always ready to help and super communicative. The place was always clean and tidy even the common areas.

Everything was perfect in my view.

The lady who met us couldn't have been more helpful, she was wonderfully kind and helped us with our lost(by the airline) suitcase. The lodge is located right in the centre of town and a fabulous Mexican restaurant just steps away (We live in rural France and don't get Mexican restaurants, so we were over the moon) Cooking facilities and fridge are shared in a communal kitchen, eating and sitting space, but fridge boxes and storage boxes and labels are provided for your own shopping.

The entire experience using Ammergau Lodge was excellent. Large rooms in excellent condition along with the flexibility to use the common rooms made the experience great. We were on a family trip to Germany to visit the Xmas Markets and having visited Oberammergau several times in the past we left it until the end which finished the trip on a high note. The host made things easy and when discussing his lodge the pride was evident. We liked their format, no in house staff, easy access with lockbox for access to keys, common rooms for relaxing, cooking and eating. Small such that we had very little interface with the other customers so there were no conflicts. Easy to use with privacy and a very short walk to the downtown core. 5 thumbs up.

Clean and comfortable.

Very clean and modern property, bed is rather comfortable, not too firm, shower pressure is good and location is right in the middle of the old town, under 15 minutes walk to all the attractions. Free parking right in front of the property. Very nice and responsive host. The shared kitchen is a true gem - it has stove and oven, fridge, and well stocked with all the cooking equipment, from pots and pans to coffee beans and French presses and even cooking oil and spices. There are several grocery stores in town, so you could buy supplies and cook a really nice meal.

The host asks to fill a form that asks for passport information. I stayed in several places in Germany and this was the first time someone wanted to know my passport details. The host explained that it is mandated by law, but I guess many hosts are ignorring the law. The host also asks to pay additional 5 euro in cash for some taxes that are not mentioned on Booking.com.
