Hotel Commonwealth

I had high expectations for Hotel Commonwealth, but it was a massive disappointment. For $510 a night, the value is simply not there. * The Room: My room was the size of a shoe box and definitely not worth the price tag. To make matters worse, there were broken fixtures in the bathroom, and the bed looked like it had stuff on it when I arrived, which is a major hygiene concern. Toiletries on the sink were bare minimum. The decor felt tired, and the overall quality did not match the "luxury" price tag. Additionally, I was staring directly at a utility roof at the building next door. * The Staff: While general customer service was okay, the concierge and doormen were incredibly rude. If you didn’t need valet service, you were ignored. For a hotel at this price point, you expect a much higher level of professionalism. * The View: A major reason for staying here is the proximity to Fenway Park, but I was blocked from going to the terrace to see the park due to a private party. We were told we couldn't go to the Fenway Terrace (often mistaken for a rooftop bar) because of a private party. It's frustrating that guests don't have consistent access to the very views the hotel markets so heavily. * The Saving Grace: The Sushi restaurant (Blue Ribbon Sushi) in the hotel is easily 5 stars. The food was incredible, but it's not enough to justify staying at the hotel again. Verdict: Avoid staying here. The rooms are overpriced and poorly maintained. Just come for the sushi and sleep somewhere else.

The organization I work for, Independent Lodging Congress, gathers individuals & companies in the hospitality sector 4 times a year for at different indie hotel properties. We host conferences for hotel owners, operators, developers, and those who are service providers to these hospitality ventures. Honorable Mention: Nick MacDonald (Head Concierge) who agreed to an impromptu speaking request from our Emcees to talk about 15 years of service with the Hotel Commonwealth, hospitality at its truest form, and undying love for the Red Sox.

All around a great trip and hotel experience!

Best in class service from this entire team! We are frequent guests and always feel so at home and cared for as soon as we pull up outside, thru check-in and then all through the stays. We stay at lots of hotels all over the place, and this team sets such a high standard it’s always the example others are compared to—which needless to say, rarely measures up. 🙌

Great location for Fenway. Clean and comfortable rooms. Price is comparable to Boston. Noise level was bearable considering you are in the city. Room service was quick and food was very good. Highly recommend. Staff are very friendly.

I had an absolutely incredible stay from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm, genuine hospitality that immediately set the tone. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and the staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome. The room itself was spotless, beautifully designed, and extremely comfortable. The bed felt like sleeping on a cloud, and every detail—from the lighting to the amenities—was thoughtfully curated. I especially appreciated the little touches that made the experience feel luxurious without being over the top. What truly stood out was the service. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, attentive, and eager to help. Whether it was recommendations for local spots or quick assistance with a request, they exceeded expectations every time. The facilities were equally impressive. Everything was well-maintained, and the atmosphere throughout the hotel was calm and inviting. It was the perfect place to relax and recharge. The location was right where we needed to be and the price point for the booking was very reasonable. Overall, this was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, quality, and outstanding service.

Our Boston vacation was truly unforgettable. We had the most incredible experience that exceeded our wildest dreams. Our stay at the Hotel Commonwealth Boston with Nick (and his Boston accent) Calvin, Frankie and staff made us feel like part of the family. From the Fenway experience to Boston’s rich American history. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary. We will miss you but will definitely be back.

My husband and I stayed for a weekend in May for our birthdays. All of the staff were wonderful! The room was great, bed comfortable, surprisingly quiet for Boston traffic. Great location, Fenway Park is right there. Kenmore Station is right outside your door. Valet parking service is $75 night so be ready for that. Yikes! Very pleased with our stay and I’d look forward to going back again.

Accomodations were awesome! Jeff at the front desk was personable and super helpful!
