Barceló Huatulco - All Inclusive

Highly recommend Barcelo Huatulco, Service and property were top notch in all ways. Everything was very clean and comfortable.

We loved this resort, pool and grounds were well maintained. Very quiet and smaller scaled resort which is nice not having to walk far to the pools, restaurants and beach. Sadly, the website states king size or 2 double beds in a room, upon arrival we had to pay an extra $7000 pesos for king bed suite which was shocking. Also, when booking, it’s only an extra $150 for a premium level suite. However, when you arrive and you’ve booked a deluxe room, they will charge you an extra $150/night to upgrade to a premium level suite. So couple cash grabs in that regard.

Barcelo is a wonderful resort ! Some reviews mention its age, which is valid, but it’s well kept up and maintained. They have a team of groundskeepers and maintenance staff that do a great job keeping it pristine. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The buffets have something for everyone, you will not go hungry. There were some reviews about some of the food being lukewarm, which was also valid, but keep in mind that they’re preparing food for a few hundred people, so each and every plate won’t be piping hot. Certainly some of the dishes were better tasting than others, but that’s personal preference. We only used one of our specialty restaurant nights because we enjoyed the variety the buffet offered. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and professional. They made the vacation that much more enjoyable. The location of Barcelo can’t be beat! It’s right on the beach. Thank you Barcelo for a great vacation and wonderful memories. We’re already thinking about our next vacation at Barcelo Hautulco!

Overall was very good and would go again would also advise others to go as well. My friend goes about 8 times now and always to Porta Viarta. Told her to check it out

Staff were great and hotel very clean & well maintained. The only thing was the Seafood restaurant wasn’t open and when I asked the staff they said it was seasonal (open October to January).

Have stayed here in the past, the overall experience has definitely gone down from previous visits. During this stay overall the hotel and area are very clean. Food at the buffets was ok, a lot of deep fried items and often cold or not replenished compared to previous visits. Housekeeping seemed under staffed as twice during our stay the room was not cleaned by the time we returned to get ready for our evening. Dirty glasses and empty cans remained in our room the entire week, not the case in previous stays. The area is paradise, rooms are large, beach is beautiful, liquor is watered down, most staff seemed uninterested. If we had not previously stayed here and been able to compare ratings may have been higher.

This was our second trip to this resort and unfortunately, it will be my last. Pros: We purchased the Deluxe Ocean Front Premium package and would highly recommend upgrading to the Premium Level - well worth the upgrade. We were able to eat at the a la carte restaurants every day and totally enjoyed the Premium Lounge for snacks and top tier drinks several times a day. The resort is not too big and getting around posed no problems for us. The resort itself could use a refresh; we were there about 5 years ago and it's showing its age. It's only about a half hour drive from the airport so that was a plus. We were unhappy with the 1st room we were given as we were expecting a king sized bed and the room had 2 double beds. Kudos to Keydi in the VIP Lounge who was kind enough to move us the next day to a room on a higher floor with a king bed. View from the ocean front rooms is spectacular! Overall service was ok, not the friendliest I've experienced before but the se4vers and managers of oth the italian and the mexican a la cartes were awesome. The food at the beach front restaurant was always good and service was very friendly. Hotel lobby bar and entertainment was excellent!! Cons: The beach is very steep and there is a very stronh undertow. Most days we couldnt even get into the water as the waves were so high. Food in the buffet was cold; meat, mashed potatoes, veggies - all cold; we ate there once when the food was just put out fresh and wouldn't go back. If not for the unlimited access to the a la carte restaurants, I dont know where we could have found food that was hot. Even the food in the Premium Lounge was just "warm" most of the time. The housekeeping staff didnt clean our room very well at all - didn't look like floors were ever washed and our bathroom mirror didn't look like it had ever been cleaned. Overall, we found that the resort staff weren't to interested in knowing whether you were enjoying your stay or not; totally indifferent for the most part. The worst part of our entire stay was knowing that guests were throwing towels on all of the prime seating areas by the pool and on the beach by 7 in the morning so you could never find a place to sit - I didn't travel all that way and pay a premium price so I could get up at the crack of dawn and run out to save a chair for myself. If I could offer one suggestion to the resort management, I would include premium designated pre-paid seating by the pool and on the beach. That could turn into a lot of revenue for the resort and a lot of happy guests who could sleep in and be assured of a seat when they were ready to enjoy their day in the sun. I'd gladly pay for shade - we do that every time we travel to Las Vegas and want to sit by the pool. I would have upped my rating to 4 star if not for the whole beach chair fiasco.

I have wanted to come to this area for years but it's always been more expensive. This year I was able to get a great deal with booking hotel separate from air. Finally got my visit and it won't be the last! Such beautiful area! Found the airport odd though... taking our temps in arrival? It's 2026.. then searching all bags for food items?? Again found that odd. We travel a lot and never encountered either before, was just in pv in Jan as well. Hotel is beautiful, small, very clean!! We had an amazing view from our ocean front premium room. Water was pooled up most times on the left side of the balcony at the drain. The shower... holy moly the rain head is far from relaxing and will strip a layer of skin off, Super powerful. It made sense our first full day when one rinsed off sand at the beach shower saying it's the best they had all week lol. I got what they ment the next am. Nothing fancy about the room but clean. Loved the location of our room. Beach was beautiful and some times real calm and others nice and wavy. To the right it's very sloped and to the left more flat. At the very end you can see a pool of fish there daily. Food: meh. All the reviews I've read were right. Nothing special. Buffets are small and then small selections. Burgers were undercooked so watch out for that. Deep fried things did have a fishy taste to them, wish there was more traditional Mexican cuisine to choose from... simple street tacos, guac etc Premium: we didn't find it worth it at all and honestly would opt out next time. The lounge is super tiny, not much offered. The benefits of extra à la carts is good if that's your thing but | think l'd be happy without it next time. Pool: not a fan of the swim up bar, seemed like an after thought... strange they are up high looking down at you. Not a fan of the rain fall when sitting there. Splashing you and so loud but it's in the shade so you get a break from the sun. I wish they had traditional umbrellas... these woven covers sure look nice but are not practical when wanting shade. Only a few small area I noticed people actually got "complete shade" and you had to be up early early to get those. I'm up at 6 for sunrise and they were gone already! Though I must say you could still get a chair almost any time of day anywhere else. The pools otherwise seemed to provide areas for all. Adult only side, entertainment and kids. The bathrooms need Reno’s. Small, closed doors with no ventilation and then they smell. Overall I was pleasantly suprised with Barcelo, as my number one was to go to dreams but reading the horror of chair wars there I think I'II skip it and come back here next time. Also to note there are a tons of stairs everywhere… so if that’s an issue I’d skip.

We were a group of 13 family and friends from Canada and we had an incredible time. Beautiful grounds, very friendly staff and very accommodating for our group size. We enjoyed meals at all three specialty restaurants and the buffet. We celebrated two birthdays here and the staff brought cakes, sang happy birthday and made the celebrations more special. At the buffet they quickly set up a large table to accommodate our group and let us know to come the next night and they would have a table for us! Shout out to Eduardo, Victor and Ricardo at the buffet and a big thank you to Ximena at guest services! We enjoyed the tennis courts, basketball court and we had a birthday mini putt golf tournament, and played a couple of games of pool in the games room. So much fun. The beach is lovely, and you can snorkel in the bay. We had premium level and we felt is was worth the extra cost. We were welcomed by Adelfa at the premium lounge nightly, she took good care of us. My husband had his first pedicure ever and now I believe he will have more. Mariana at the spa did a fabulous job on his feet (thank you Mariana!). And then there is Fernando bringing us our daily refreshments poolside. Fernando works hard, always a smile on his face and remembers your drink preference day after day, simply the best!! We met many people here that come here again and again, we can understand why. This is our first trip to Huatulco and most likely not our last. One more day here, we will be back, thank you Barcelo for everything!
