The Zen Hotel Palo Alto

The location was very, very good as we needed to attend a conference at Stanford. The hotel is on a busy intersection corner so while noise wasn't an issue, there was a bus stop just outside our window. There is a Walgreens across the street, which is always handy. There were plenty of food options (mostly fast casual, some small restaurants) within a 10 minute walk of the hotel which was great. The room was more like a small efficiency apt that had a living and doing room and small kitchen. All the basics were covered. Everything was clean and orderly. The hotel gym was standard and got the job done. Everything was clean and in good working order. The room had two AC units, one in the bedroom and one in the dining room. We happened to be there during a heatwave (highs in the 90s) so this was a bit of an issue but it would've been an issue anywhere as nobody was prepared for that heat.

The bed (king size) was way too soft. If you have back issues or are over the age of 40, be prepared or stay somewhere else if this is an issue for you. A night or two was bearable but beyond that and your back will hate you.
