Residence Inn by Marriott Saddle River

Terrible overall

Front desk help was very nice. Our first impression was the place was unkept, hallways were dirty, carpets were worn and torn on the stairways, and smelled of cigarettes. Our room also smelled of smoking, so we were moved to another room. The second room was fine, except for stains in the bathtub, around the faucet and some of the carpet was torn near the kitchenette. The next day we noticed garbage on the sidewalks and in the grass areas, and garbage receptacles were overflowing. We never saw a housekeeper during our stay Travelocity had an 8.4 rating, completely wrong.

Started off my room was not going to be ready, then my room was ready. Room had not hot water. Got a new room. Room not properly clean. Hair and stains in shower.

The property is beautiful. It's right off a major road but you would never know it. It's so peaceful, well manicured, and the rooms are very comfortable.

The hotel is lovely and the staff are fantastic really welcoming and helpful. I would’ve enjoyed my stay even more if the pool had been open, as that was something I was really looking forward to. That said, I’ll definitely be back once the pool is open looking forward to it!

Clean and comfortable. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good with many choices. Right off Route 17.

Well kept, great location, friendly staff

This is a pet-friendly hotel. While I'm used to staying in hotels that allow pets, at this location, there were dogs everywhere—barking, urinating on the grass, etc. During check-in, a dog actually tried to pounce on me; thankfully, it was on a leash. If you’re traveling with a pet, this place may be a great option—but otherwise, it might feel overwhelming. It also appeared that the hotel was hosting transients or possibly operating as a halfway house. There were people openly smoking weed, and the smell even seeped into my room. It made for a very unpleasant experience. Another concern: while the hotel is spread across multiple buildings, my building (Building 3) had no security lock on the entrance, which didn’t feel safe. On top of that, my room didn’t appear to have been properly cleaned. The bar soap and towel had clearly been used, and there was a Dude Wipe wrapper left in the trash. It definitely didn’t give us a clean or fresh feeling. Lastly, this was in the middle of July, and we were disappointed to find that the pool was out of service—with no advance notice. That was a big letdown.

Honestly, the cleanliness of the room could’ve been better. The hotel was a little bit on the older side, but the amenities which I didn’t really get experience looked beautiful. There were bugs in the towels, and that’s all that really needs to be said. I think, having your partner wake up to pulling a towel and opening it up and finding a bug on the inside is just more than enough to just leave that unsettling feeling
