It’s a cool place. Our room was clean and it has all the amenities we needed. The hotel smells good for a century- old building. The receptionist/ concierge person was courteous, jolly, and greeted us with a warm hello and smile. She even asked if we had toiletries since we told her out bags were still at the airport. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced. I should have given it 5 stars but it was kind of warm even if the thermostat was at 65 deg 3 hours before check out time. I forgot to mention when I checked out. The room is on the small side. Location is good and accessible to IAH by bus if willing to walk two blocks to the bus stop. We will go back there again.

First time back in years. Same great hotel I remember. Also, I am. History guy. It was built around world war II.

All the staff were great. We arrived after 24+ hours travel, and they let us check in early, which was great, we were exhausted. The room was great. The weather was against us, which frankly was ok (!) because we could justify catching up on some rest without feeling guilty about not fulfilling our touristy duties! I had a bit of a query about the valet parking when we checked out, but the front staff were professional and fixed it up quickly. (And the valet parking was well done. It ain't cheap, and I don't know if you can do better/cheaper but we were happy to use this option.) The staff in the bar were the friendliest people on the planet. Great position in downtown Houston.

Could have done with a fridge in the room. Minor.

The staff was welcoming. Valet was helpful with directions.

The location. Right down the street from Minute Maid Park, which is the reason for our visit and the party scene the way. We had a lot of fun. Lobby bar was pretty good as well.
