Melrose is in an ideal location - walking distance from everywhere and quiet enough too! Our room was so gorgeous - a little separate cabin called Napoleon. All the staff weee so friendly and helpful! Especially Emily! An absolute asset to Melrose! So knowledgable, approachable and friendly!

"My new NOLA home."

10.0

Location was great! Very convenient to public transit or ride services. Low traffic streets. Pool was a great amenity for sore feet. Large room with high ceiling and individual AC control and fan. Stayed in the Feret room 2nd floor top of the stairs, easy access but does require steps. Great shower and very comfortable bed.

Self serve Breakfast was good and plentiful, but could be a bit more creative.

The location was quiet very convient. The pool and gym were a nice amenity. The staff was fantastic.

Noisy aircon and mini fridge was noisy. But none of it ruined my trip. The lights were a little too dim in the bathroom.

"A beautiful, historic stay with modern comfort, a great location, and an amazing hostess/Front Desk who truly made t"

10.0

I loved the character and history of the property it truly feels like staying in an 1800s mansion, but with all the comforts of a modern hotel. We stayed in the balcony room, and it was absolutely beautiful spacious layout, very comfortable bed, and nice touches like a refrigerator and wet bar. The bathroom was large, with a stunning shower and a beautiful soaking tub. The balcony itself was huge, and even accessing it (through the original-style window you lift open) added to that historic charm. The entire place felt warm and inviting, like staying in a home rather than a hotel. The pool looked great, even though we didn’t get a chance to use it. The location was perfect about a 15–20 minute walk to Bourbon Street and the French Quarter, close enough to enjoy but far enough to avoid the noise. There’s also a 24-hour restaurant/bar next door and a convenience store nearby, which made everything super convenient. I would absolutely stay here again and next time, I’ll definitely stay longer.

Honestly, there wasn’t much I didn’t like. The only minor inconvenience is that there’s one flight of stairs, so you do have to carry your luggage up. It’s not a dealbreaker at all, but something to keep in mind if you’re a heavy packer or need accessible accommodations. The only real disappointment was the breakfast. While it’s great that it’s offered, the quality didn’t match the overall experience of the property. The food tasted overcooked and a bit stale, and it just didn’t reflect the charm and level of the hotel itself. For a smaller boutique-style property, I think a more thoughtful or higher-quality selection even something simpler but fresher would really elevate the stay. For example, offering a lighter, fresh continental option during the weekdays (like toast, bagels, or boiled eggs) and then a more elevated, hot breakfast on weekends would be a great balance especially since weekend rates are higher and could help support that upgrade.
