Elysian Beach Resort

This resort is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms were very spacious, clean, great views of Cowper bay. Staff was very friendly. Two restaurants right next to the resort which was very convenient for us. We had a wonderful time!

The power went off for one hour suddenly. There was no running water for that period of time either. The lights were out the night we Checked in. I couldn’t see going down the stairs with my luggage. I tripped on the shoes on a mat of my neighbor. It was SO dark. Dangerous. Horrible first impression. We expected a view of the sea. It is dated. It needs some updates around the pool, the lobby. The random times for the pool bar never met our time at the pool. We were much more comfortable and spent more time at another resort, where our friends were staying.

We had 3 families between two units. Perfectly appointed and very comfortable. Everyone we encountered on the resort was very except for the bartender next to the pool. I believe it was called Rico’s Bar. He was nice to me as I tipped very well, but I witnessed him saying something very negative about a group of people that ordered frozen drinks and only left him $2. Definitely not something I needed to hear. Maybe he was having a bad day. Certainly did not ruin my time here. We will more than likely stay here again as it was very convenient to Red Hook.

Celebrated my 60th birthday at Elysian Resort! We enjoyed our stay, and the staff is wonderful. The staff catered to our every need and was very friendly. We enjoyed talking to them about the island and island life. We also enjoyed being greeted by them. The beach is amazing!

We loved everything.

Based on my first day here, I would have given this place two stars. The restaurant on the resort was understaffed, and we were told we might not be served. We did get served, food was decent, but nothing great considering the price. The next morning we asked for beach towels and were told to come back later because they were out, they ended up finding clean towels in the back room shortly after. This place isn't cheap, I'm not sure how they don't have beach towels ready to go all the time. As we relaxed on the beach, my husband and I slowly settled into paradise. The beach had white sand and the water was clear, calm, and Caribbean blue. I'm not a great swimmer and was able to comfortably enjoy the water and even managed to see a stingray and a few other fish. There was a lot of natural shade on the beach if you want to stay out of the direct sun. Only complaint is some of the beach chairs could use an update. Pros- Nice beach, nice pool (although the beach was so nice, we didn't go in the pool). Beautiful room, we had a nice view of the water with a balcony. Close to the St. John's Ferry, which is a must do, if you come all the way to St. Thomas. Cons - Only two restaurants on the resort, only one open for lunch. There were a few walkable restaurants at the Ritz Calton next door, but they were expensive. Taxi's to venture outside the resort are expensive, cost about $7-8 per person to get to Red Hook. From the airport to the hotel it is about $24-25 per person. Most of St. Thomas is built up hill, so there were a lot of steps to walk from the beach to the room. I didn't mind this, but it's not for everyone. I believe you can request a cart ride from your room to another part of the resort. Other cons are no mini mart, no water by the pool, and no complementary coffee or teas in the lobby. The coffee in the room was terrible. We discovered days later, the Ritz next door has a coffee shop that is decent.

My room wasn’t cleaned every day. In fact, it wasn’t cleaned at all while I was there.
